"I found Bottoms Up Gardens on Angie's List when I was looking for someone to help me with advice on how to remove a lawn.  Gwyny responded to my e-mail early the next day, which clued me in that she is an early riser and conscientious businessperson.  She answered my questions about lawn removal options and offered to come out to have a look at the project and give an estimate.  She arrived right on time for our appointment and I knew right away that this was the person I was looking for because she took the time to look around the property and ask about our plans, wishes and expectations.  The next day I received an e-mail with an estimate, license and insurance information, and plenty of referrals, along with a suggestion to plan ahead to get a spot in the busy schedule.
When we first started to think about removing our lawn we had planned on doing the manual labor ourselves, to save money.  Once I got Gwyny's estimate and spoke to friends who had had similar work done, I realized that the job was going to be in much better hands if the team from Bottoms Up did it.  I booked the job for four weeks later, which gave me plenty of time to kill the grass in preparation for the removal.
On the day of our appointment, Gwyny and her team of four were at the house at 8am and IMMEDIATELY started working.  Gwyny set the pace and gave directions and the rest of the team spread out and did what they came to do.  I had pretty big expanse of lawn stretching form the front of the house, along the side (we live on a corner), and into the back yard.  The team moved some potted plants and worked around my big beautiful deodar cedar tree.  They cut the turf into strips of sod, broke up the clumps, and took away almost all traces of the grass.  By early afternoon they were giving the freshly exposed topsoil a light shower (along with the rest of my yard), and left quietly and without a trace.
Gwyny and I exchanged e-mails and thanks the next day and the invoice she sent me was actually $300 less than the original estimate because the job took less time than she expected.  I can't imagine a better experience!  And I'm looking forward to setting up a maintenance plan with Bottoms Up once we put in the new landscaping.  Just wish we had piles of money to have Gwyny and her team do it for us!

The cleaners removed the window screen but while cleaning them, they destroyed my windows screen.
