"From the initial contact; the response was quick, timely and the quote was very reasonable. The day of installation, we were instructed to hang plastic to prevent dust from the quartz cut . The crew were professional , very respectful and knowledgeable. The craftsmanship and skill set was very impressive. I would highly recommend them to my friends. If I ever need future stone / tile work I will definitely call upon them again. Excellent work ! They made my dream and vision for my kitchen come true ! Thank you!"

"My wife and I very very impressed with Jonathan's product knowledge, suggestions, and professionalism throughout the sales process. The shutters were installed today by Christian. This young man impressed with a neat/clean appearance on arrival, he quickly cased out the scope of work to be accomplished - and went to work. He worked efficiently, was tidy, and knew his trade. Completed the installations ~3 hours. Both Jonathan and Christian are a credit to Delightful Decors - thank you gentlemen for a very pleasant experience. You have my recommendation "anytime"."

"The short answer is "great." Scott, the owner of Green Castle Contracting, came to our home, looked at the scope of work, made some measurements, evaluated the areas where the new tile was to be installed. We had already purchased the tile, small rectangular glass tiles on a mesh backing, about 12" by 12" sheets, and we had the un-sanded grout as well. The only materials Green Castle provided, although they would have provided everything, was the hardibacker cement boards and tile adhesive. Of course, they provided the skilled installers. They provided us an estimate for the project, including the Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon I had purchased. Additionally, I had tried to get a "Big Deal" coupon for granite countertops cleaning, sealing, polishing with Green Castle a couple of months prior to this project, so I spoke with Scott about including the countertop cleaning, etc, after the backsplash was completed. This turned out to be a prefect time to have the countertops done as, not matter how well they protected the granite and how careful they tried to be, the countertops needed a good cleaning. So recommend doing the countertops after any backsplash work, if you have granite, marble or other natural stone solid surface. Anyway, back to the backsplash project.
I accepted their cost estimate for the project and we scheduled a project start date. Their installer showed up on time, actually a little earlier than I expected, but no problem. He didn't have knowledge of the overall project, so I took a few minutes to show him the areas to be demoed, the tile to be installed, the grout, and where he could set up his tools, etc. He put down a protective paper barrier over the granite countertops, sink, and cooktop, then started to remove the original tiles. It quickly became clear that the builder did not use a cement backing for the tile, but tiled directly onto drywall. I approved the removal of everything, taking it down to the existing studs and replacing the drywall with a cement boards, which I thought to be required in wet areas. This added several hours to the project. After a couple hours, another installer showed up to help, as I think the first guy called and said he needed assistance to finish the project on time. The rest of that first day, all of the second day and 6 hrs of the third day were spent putting up the tile, a generally tedious and meticulous task, requiring precise cuts around electrical outlets, and a water fixture. Grouting was equally tedious, messy and time-consuming. Then with all the mess cleaned up, one installer started on the granite cleaning/stripping, sealing, polishing task. All I can say about this is...WOW! The granite in our master bath and kitchen never felt, or looked, so good. Water actually beads up on the granite now and cleaning it ourselves after daily use is much easier. While one guy was doing the granite cleaning, the other was cleaning up our garage, loading up the accumulated debris (they hauled it away), and loading all their tools, etc.
Here's the bottom line, this project needed to be done for a long time. We were never happy with the original tiled backsplash we chose and the poor installation of the tile by the builder's contractor made it even worse. Yes, it was functional, but unappealing. Now, hardly a day goes by without my wife or me saying how much we like the new backsplash and the renewed finish on the countertops. Thanks all to the excellent work done by Green Castle Contracting and their great employees, Drew and Jamie (aka, Bubba). I highly recommend this company and very pleased with their product and service.

FAQs for stone slab countertops installation (granite, marble, quartz, etc) projects in Bastrop, TX

Soapstone countertops are durable, environmentally friendly, easy to maintain, non-porous, heat-resistant, and naturally antibacterial. They resist stains and cracks, making them a practical and long-lasting choice. However, soapstone has limited color options and can have visible seams in larger installations. It may also scratch or chip if not handled carefully and tends to have a higher initial cost than other materials. Overall, if you're looking for a functional and aesthetically pleasing countertop, soapstone is a solid choice despite these minor drawbacks.

Soapstone countertops typically come in light to dark gray, often with blue or green undertones. One of the unique features of soapstone is that it deepens in color over time, developing a rich patina that adds to its charm. Each slab is unique, with natural streaks and veining that become more pronounced as the countertop ages, giving your kitchen or bathroom a dynamic and evolving look.

With proper care, soapstone countertops can last 50 years or more. Regular cleaning with mild detergents and occasional applications of mineral oil to enhance the natural patina will keep your countertops looking beautiful. Thanks to its durable nature, soapstone stands up well for daily use, making it a wise long-term investment for your home.

Sealing isn't necessary for soapstone countertops. Soapstone is naturally non-porous and antibacterial, resists stains, and doesn't harbor bacteria. While you don't need to seal it, applying mineral oil occasionally can enhance its natural beauty and help develop a rich patina over time. This simple maintenance keeps your countertop looking its best for years to come.
