"Let me save you some time! I recommend John Scott Roofing 100% hands I asked 10 roofing contractors to come out and give me a price on Owens Coring Duration Designer with peel/stick water barrier. 1-John Scott does his own estimates and goes over all the points needed for a successful roof replacement, prep, warranty and answers all questions, no pressure. ***THIS INCLUDES the signed statement he has paid for materials. WHAT THIS MEANS you will not get a lien on the products installed if the roof company fails to pay for their materials. 2-No down payment and uses their own license and the installers were professional, and cleaned up every nail. 3-Price was the lowest even with a premium product. JS did not charge extra for the premium product either. 10 estimates: John Scott was the lowest, the second closest came in $600 more. The rest $3000-$9,000 MORE FOR THE SAME PRODUCT Be patient, he is booked! The office team was incredible! I cannot say enough about John Scott Roofing!"

"This company is excellent- very responsive. Ryder is awesome. He is very professional & so helpful. They were able to place an emergency tarp for me with short notice when everyone was scrambling after a hurricane. Their workers are very hardworking and do an excellent job. I know I can count on their work being done right. I highly recommend this company. We are so glad we used them first for a roof repair & then for roof replacement & for any follow up roof leak concerns and now for an emergency tarp on another property I own."

"Excellent roofing company. Showed on time, used quality underlay and shingles, bonded, insured and work was done in a day & 1/2. When the inspector came he said they did a real nice job. They needed to take off my lightning protection and when they finished the cables were left on the ground. A call to the owner John resolved that by sending his area supervisor over in ten minutes. I recommend them highly."

"It went well. Even though the Dean Company's Angie's ratings were lower than the other roofers, we chose Dean because they had initially installed a roof for us in 2000. We called Dean Company for an estimate of the work on Mon. 6/25/07. An estimator (Danny Gordon) came to our home on Mon. 7/2 and gave us an estimate of $375. He was initially concerned with their ability to match the color of the shingles. He called us on Tues 7/3, and told us they would be able to match the appearance. We told him to go ahead with the work. On Fri 7/6, a Dean company worker showed up and replaced the missing shingles. He also inspected the rest of the roof for more loose shingles-and found none. The work appears well done."

"I have a fairly large roof (total size is 5000 square feet -- in roofing terms, that is 50 squares). The going rate for Angie's List A+ Contractors in Tampa appears to be between $290.00 to $340.00 per square. Good Neighbor charged $245.00, which brought the price to $12,250.00.  Prior to contracting with Good Neighbor, I got price quotes from five Angie's List A-rated providers.  All of them came in at $15-17K for the same project.
Note that I had a problem area on my roof where three sections intersect and had been causing a leak in my den for months.  Good Neighbor came back on site after the first rain subsequent to the roof installation, because we detected that the leak issue persisted.  They put on additional sealant, underlayment, metal drip edge and flashing that ultimately eliminated this issue.  This was not a straightforward fix -- in the past, I had had two other roofers come out and try to fix it with no success.  Good Neighbor were on-site for almost an entire day addressing this issue to my satisfaction at no additional charge on the project.
So, in all, Jim Fernandez and Good Neighbor Roofing, Inc. were the best price by far and provided very professional and excellent service.  My new roof looks great.  I highly recommend them for your roofing needs.

"Company had done work for us twice before (tile roofing and flat top rubber roofing). They did a great job and we never had a problem with anything they did. This job was done when we told it would be, all cleaned up after and during the work, and has held up well. (Done 3 years ago.)"

"From start to finish, Larry Miller Inc. was a pleasure to work with. Everyone there went above and beyond my expectations to get this work done. Larry, Franco and Frank Miller's work ethic was exceptional. They made sure to inspect the damage thoroughly and provide options to consider in their estimate. They also offered me a military discount as I am a disable veteran. Very nice people! The actual work was done by Curtis, who was very friendly and explained the work he was doing. He paid attention to every detail. He thoroughly pressure washed the roof before starting. There was wood rot from water that had gotten under the shingles because of improperly installed gutter guards. The wood was replaced, a new covering was installed and then everything was sealed. This took several days to get everything done right. He took photos along the way to show me how the work was progressing and then at the end so I could see the finished work, since I cannot get up on ladders. He even fixed an area of the roof that could have potential leaking from a pitch pan and a hole where an old TV antenna had been removed so that they would not cause water damage, even though this was not work that was planned nor included in the final price. I highly recommend this team of professionals. I will definitely call this company when I need to replace my main roof."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Bay Pines, FL

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
