"All the people at Western PA slate are great. I have worked with them for about 9 years now. I hired them to do my roof and my parentâ s roof. I have a large Victorian home that had not been properly maintained for years . Sometimes leaks are hard to pinpoint on older homes. Western PA Slate is up for the challenge. My parentâ s home is from the 1920â s. Their slate roof was at the end of its life. They came and did a total tear off. They replaced it with a higher quality slate. I highly recommend them for all slate roofing projects."

"It went very well. The basement was developing a musty smell, and so I had Ed look at it. He found water in the insulation and where water was coming in through the walls. He had to jack hammer out some of the cement to install the sump pump and French drain. It was hard work, but he continued working on my house until the job was done. When he was working in the garage he found a few other problem areas that I hadn't even seen and was able to fix those too.  He is very proactive in the work that he does.
Ed is very fairly priced. He gave me a few different bids based on different ways to resolve the problem. He pointed out ways to save money without cutting quality.

My basement looks great now! He even helped me turn the area under my stairs into a useful mudroom for my children's shoes and coats.
I am very happy with the quality of work that he does. I used to dread going into my basement, but now it is clean and fresh. People that saw my basement before can't believe it is even the same place.
I will definitely use Ed's help again. I gave his information to my realtor, and now she has him doing work for her clients as well.

FAQs for natural slate roofing repair projects in Beaver Falls, PA

If more than 30% of your slate roof is damaged, it's time to consider a full replacement. This will prevent further deterioration and avoid costly recurring repairs. A professional slate inspection (costing between $130 and $360) can confirm whether repairs are sufficient or if a full roof replacement is the better option.

A slate roof can last anywhere from 60 to 150 years, depending on factors like installation quality, regular maintenance and repairs, and local weather conditions. Compared to materials like clay and concrete, which often last around 50 years, a well-maintained slate roof offers superior longevity, durability, and long-lasting aesthetic appeal.

Yes, you can use temporary patch solutions, such as roofing cement or patchwork, to provide immediate relief for minor leaks or underlayment issues observed from inside your home. However, these provisional fixes do not replace the need for a permanent, professional exterior repair, which is necessary to ensure the long-term integrity and weather resistance of your slate roof.
