"They were very nice and professional, but everything they said was wrong with the house I purchased, was wrong. Said there was a small gas leak on the water heater, spent $275 for a plumber to tell me nothing is wrong. They said the furnace was in good condition, but couldn't guarantee how long it would last because it was over 50yrs old. They were wrong again, there was a crack in the heater exchange, so unless we are a fan of carbon monoxide we can not use the furnace. So basically I paid $425 for them to turn things on and not actually inspect anything."

"We called Radon-X because Radon Technology Inc. (RTI) did not return our call for service. RTI installed the unit originally and we called them first because their number was on the unit. We called RTI twice and they failed to follow up with us - and still have not responded back! We called Radon X and their response was immediate. Mr. Busch was prompt and found the problem immediately. He didn’t even charge us for his service call. We appreciated his honesty and experience and Radon X will be the only call we make next time. We highly recommend RADON X! Steve and Sandy Heffner"

"Very pleased with every interaction we had with this inspection firm, from the first instance in requesting their services, to the final report. In from out of state, we had just bought a new home in Southwest Ohio, and had very limited number of days available to complete a buyer's inspection before leaving town again. Danato worked with us to schedule an after normal business hours inspection the next business day with Inspector Ryan. Ryan was very thorough, and in addition to the usual inspection steps, he provided us useful tips on home ownership including suggestions for local vendors to consider for specific improvement projects. His report was completed and printed out on site at the conclusion of the visit, which was helpful. Without any hesitation, we would highly recommend this firm for home inspection services."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"We suspected a radon issue in our basement. We called the environmental doctor they promptly came to our home and set up a device to record the radon level. Our level was 17. Very, very high. They worked us in less than 2 weeks, repaired the issue, tested again and all was fine."

"Brian's inspection saved me from thousands of dollars of repairs I'd not have found otherwise had I proceeded with the purchase of the home. He was professional, punctual and thorough throughout the inspection. I appreciated his expertise so much, I hired him to do the inspection on the next home I made an offer on. Home, radon and termite were bundled together."

"We had our furnace checked by a company who provided a coupon on Angies List and they told us the heat exchanger was cracked on our 18 or so year old furnace. We were also told that after next year we would not be able to get a coolant? for our 25 y.o. air conditioner. We decided to buy a new furnace and air conditioner. That company sent a high pressure salesman to our home who spent several hours inspecting every room and FINALLY gave us an estimate on both a new air conditioner and furnace. We felt the estimate was way too high and contacted deLong who was local, and was recommended by friends and Angies List. Ted gave us an estimate that was a little more than half of what the other company told us for both air conditioner and furnace. When I told the other company their estimate was too high they said they would match De Long's but backed off when I told them how low DeLong's was. It really made me feel the other company was taking advantage of us big time- what if we had gone with them and paid thousands of dollars more not realizing how much the price was negotiable. We hired DeLong and when we turned on our old furnace, the blower wouldn't work. Ted got the furnace working with a temporary motor he provided that kept our old furnace working for two or so weeks until he could install the new furnace and air conditioner. Ted was always very responsive to our needs and we were very pleased with the installers and how they fit the installation into our schedule. We highly recommended deLong, their responsiveness, price, service and product, although we haven't used the air conditioner yet."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Beavercreek, OH

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
