"Looking for a contractor for your remodeling job? We give John Wood five stars. We hired John Wood of JAW Construction to transform a building shell originally intended to be a shop for building trusses into a small house (officially an auxiliary dwelling unit or ADU) and are thrilled we found him. The job required skills that extended beyond new construction to include the insight, skill and craftsmanship of a highly experienced remodeling expert. He possessed these in spades. Beyond his own expertise, he has assembled a set of sub-contractors that are excellent craftsmen in their own areas of expertise. The job was doubly challenging given that for much of the construction period we were out of state getting our old home ready for sale. This also meant that an extra element of trust was involved. John sent us pictures of the progress, so that we could monitor from a distance. In addition, he was able to identify and rectify several flaws in our design. As with any large construction/remodeling project, there were some unexpected expenses that came up, but John worked with us to help limit cost overruns, sometimes foregoing profits. He was also always up front about the costs of the various components. Our new home is gorgeous and reflects his sharp eye for detail. We couldn’t be happier. In short, if you want a highly skilled, trustworthy, hardworking contractor for your large (or small) job, we highly recommend John Wood of JAW Construction."

"Matt and his crew did a fantastic job finishing the unfinished room over their garage in a house we recently purchased. Matt is an excellent communicator and has very good ideas. He was clear and kind when talking to us about what we could or could not do. He has excellent suggestions. We both trusted him completely with our home. The subcontractors he works with are respectful, kind, and reliable. So is Matt! We are very happy that we found him, and are already planning our next project. "

"We found Kyle on Angi, a bit desperate with a remodel gone south and a move-in date looming. Although he does not live in our area, he agreed to come out and take a look, which was 2 days later and on a Saturday. We so appreciated this already extra effort after we learned Kyle has a young family. We reviewed what needed to be done. First and foremost was preparing a working bathroom, so Kyle carved out time in his already busy schedule the following Tuesday and did just that. He has been back to our home 3 times since and we feel fortunate to have him each time. He is smart, professional and his communication skills are excellent. He takes the time to listen and talk through alternative solutions with clients. In our home he has tackled many remedial projects including tile/grout, flooring, plumbing and cabinetry. Needless to say, we have been really impressed with Kyle, his experience and skill set and we highly recommend him!!!"

"We have hired Paul and his team for several projects in the past several years, most recently for a kitchen remodel. He is professional, honest, the work is done to a high standard and we trust his judgment. He has replaced our windows, remodeled our kitchen and bathrooms, remodeled our bedroom , built a new deck and made cedar siding to match existing cedar siding on our home perfectly. We highly recommend him."

"The Alta Casa crew did a wonderful job on our bathroom re-do! They helped guide us on products to use, cost savings and more. What I was most impressed by was the professionalism, "clean-cut" workers that didn't use foul language in our home, keeping us in the loop of what work would be done and when, etc. We love our new bathroom and would hire this company again and again!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Jeff built our new home on over 2 acres. It is a one story over 2,500 square feet. The workmanship was superb. His suggested design was amazing with ceilings as high as 24 feet. The construction was perfect, and the materials were first class. If you want a contractor who is always available to you, answers your questions, tries to save you money, does exactly what he says and on time, and is the nicest guy you will ever meet, with a team that is the same, look no further. You won't find better."

"The company had very knowledgeable sales representatives which led to well informed design and project Management. Although we ran into delays with permits and a change in project managers the work was top notch. The contractors they hired did excellent work, with little or no rework required. They hired the right craftsmen."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Beavercreek, OR

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
