"My Ring Video Doorbell was having issues with power even after using the DIY videos they have posted. It burned out 2 transformers. Shevy came by and figured out the problem and fixed it by adding a plug in transformer and ran a new wire and putting in a power outlet as well."

"My experience with PK and Altman Electric was excellent. From my initial contact with Elizabeth in the main office to the service that was provided by Raphael and Omar, the staff was professional, polite, and punctual. I called on a Tuesday, and Elizabeth scheduled me in for Wednesday! And Raphael and Omar arrived an hour early. Before starting, Raphael reviewed a TO DO LIST with me. A ceiling fan and two outlets, including a GFI and light fixture, were either replaced or serviced. Pricing is competitive. Very pleased and would highly recommend."

"Jamel did a fantastic job updating a significant amount of wiring in our older home. This includes trouble shooting, rewiring, and upgrading our panel.. Through the process he clearly explained the reason for each element of the project including all costs associated with the work. Jamel is incredible reliable and detail oriented. He worked with us on an extended timeline to help install and replace various fixtures and a ring doorbell after the main project was done. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a qualified electrician."

"I had a great experience with EV Electrical. Uriel and his Father were extremely attentive, professional, and detail-oriented throughout the entire project. From outlet installation to kitchen lighting, they took the time to make sure everything was done correctly and kept me informed every step of the way. What stood out the most was their follow-through and commitment. Even when one part of the project was pending, they made sure to come back and complete the job properly instead of leaving anything unfinished. Their work ethic, reliability, and quality of work were truly appreciated. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for dependable and honest electricians."

"I was very satisfied with the professionalism Duffy showed while working and the honesty in explaining what needed to be done. My front doorbell had no power,Brian and his helper were able to run wires and install a new doorbell, I was so impressed with the quality of his work I asked him to do something else, I hired them for the front doorbell, but PC Richard's did a horrible job installing my large screen TV on my wall and left wires dangling everywhere so I asked them if they could hide the wires behind the tv and they cleaned up when they finished. Bottom line is hiring an electrician is stressful but I needed the work done and Duffy Electric did it with professionalism and I would highly recommend then for your electrical needs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bellerose, NY

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
