We are a local, family owned and run business, based out of Marysville, WA and servicing the Puget Sound area. Owner Shay Barber has been working in the construction trades for over 15 years. We are also well qualified to complete any other home project you may have. Outside of being a business owner, Shay is a loving husband, an adventurer and an avid sports fan and player. 1st Choice Home Construction Co., has become a successful local business, mostly due to Shay's high quality of standards and open, friendly demeanor. "Got an estimate beginning of may. 8 weeks later after putting half down his crew showed up late. First Shay decided I needed more work. An extra $3k was approximated and I asked for estimate emailed. Estimate was $9k more. I rejected the change 4 separate communications and monday morning his crew showed up late tearing up the roof for additional work. I called Shay and stated I rejected change and he told me I must pay extra to restore the roof or he pulls the crew with roof open. Finally rew gets tge roof done after a progress payment was made using my debit leaving $2k left. I went to buy a cashier check for PAID IN FULL final payment and found 1st Choice had gone ahead without my authorization. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I cannot stress this enough! I have never had a contractor curse me out!!!"

"Anthony & his wife showed up same day & sealed the driveway pronto. I also needed some roof repair on a flat entry porch & detached garage. Both had drainage issues for which we agreed on a course of action. He offered to do everything for $7,000. "And I'll throw in the driveway" he said. The contract was e-mailed to us & returned with a digital signature. After many broken dates, his crew of 2 guys finally got the porch roof done in 2 visits. That took a month to accomplish. I had already paid for the driveway ($785) because it was, after all, work that was done. Anthony then wanted a check for $7,400. I stupidly paid this in good faith thinking that things would work out according to contract. I looked at it again and noticed the total was for $6850 tax included. He argued against doing the garage which is on the contract. It got done. The work done on the porch is not according to contract & does not solve the issue. He refuses to inspect the work. Absolutely unprofessional."

"Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience having our house re-sided with Planet Builders. Things started out well, Marcio and crew are very friendly and easy to talk to, but what was originally quoted as a ?4 week project? became a 3 month project. After the first week, they would only appear after repeated texting asking when they were coming back - and then they would be there and work for a couple days and then disappear again. They started in April and by the time they were finished, we were told it was too late into fall to paint. :( Also, they replaced a couple windows as part of the siding job and did a lot of damage to the inside of the house that we had to have repaired. The siders also covered over our fully functioning attic fan! We could not figure out why our house was so hot- and my husband went outside and said where the vent for the attic?! (It was under the siding). I complained to Marcio about the delays and the damage and he gave me $500 back (from a $30k project). Marcio was so nice, I wish the construction experience had been nice too!"

"I hired Rick to do my roof that was overdue to be replaced. I had a few skylights that were beginning to leak and I was worried about the cost. I found Rickâ s estimate to be reasonable so I decided to go with him and his company. Because the price was so reasonable, I even had him add a skylight to our kitchen, which tends to be very dark. Overall, I was satisfied with the work. The shingles are good quality and he truly cares about the quality heâ s providing. I have a mid century home with beige stonework and when I was concerned with the chimney flashing, he worked with me to find a solution. I got a pretty good value for my money and Rick is an honest, dedicated professional."
