"Jerrod the owner of Archstone was emphatic to point out that he is one of the best if not the best and a very conscientious and honest man. He said the mortar on exterior house wall is very hard and can't be ground out. Per his expert advise the best things is pressure wash and scrape out loose and damaged mortar and use sponging technique to fill in cavities with type S mortar. I understood and agreed asking for care with pressure washer. Quote was $2922 before tax. He said the wall wouldn't look much better than it does now but he would get all the places having egregious deterioration and then seal. Two days work. Moving forward his team (him and a 18 year old nephew) came and went in less than 4 hours. Sealant remained to be done and I could see that cost was itemized at $400. I personally could do it in 1/2 hour so I asked him to scratch it from the price. He was very amenable to that. The issue arose when I was sealing I found and sent him photos of spots with severe erosion that were missed and should take about 1 hour to fix. Some on wall, one in bottom corner of house, one big seam in windowsill. I sent email and photos asking for him to return. He didn't reply. 1 week later I reached him by phone and he said he didn't get the email/or hadn't read it yet but he wasn't going to come back for 'pinholes' which I could do myself. First of all I could do everything myself but that's time that I paid him for. He is too busy to come. Photos are from the south wall as discussed."

"I'm deeply grateful to everyone involved, especially Brandy, Mely, Steve, and the team, for their exceptional work repairing my home's roof. From the start, Brandy and Mely's clear communication and daily updates boosted my confidence. Their transparency made the process smooth. The team's dedication to excellence was evident in every detail. Steve's decision to replace the sheathing due to water damage and repair the vent system showed a commitment to quality and safety. The Grace Ice and Water Shield installation exceeded expectations, ensuring long-term durability. The meticulous Landmark Triple Laminate (TL) shingle application and flawless flashing on the roof valley not only improved aesthetics but also met high standards. The efficient four-day completion and thorough cleanup showcased their expertise and professionalism. I'm overjoyed with the outcome and give Nolan's Roofing a resounding PERFECT 5 out of 5. I'll gladly recommend them to anyone needing roofing expertise."

"We hired Barron Heating because years ago they were a good company and did good work for us. This time however, I have to say they are the worst contractor we have hired in 45 years of home ownership. The salesman told us they could fit an upgraded furnace in our existing space. They were not able to fit it where they said they could, and it obstructed the laundry room doorway so badly that the washer and dryer would not fit through the doorway without removing the furnace again. For the next six months, they stalled, made excuses, and lied (in writing) about coming back to do the job properly. At that point, we hired a lawyer and notified them of our intent to sue for breach of contract, including failure to have the required state inspection performed. Only after being faced with the choice of going to court or fulfilling their contract did they take any tangible action to properly reinstall the furnace. Unless you don’t mind the possibility of 17 months plus the additional cost of a lawyer and process server to get a simple furnace installed and legally inspected, learn from our mistake - hire a different contractor."

"I contracted Topside Roofing and Siding for a major, full re-roofing project in late January/early February 2023. My initial experience of them was that they were certainly the most expensive bid, but had the best quality assurance, responsiveness, and expertise about the issues I was having with my roof. The roof replacement was certainly professional, expedient, and clearly improved all issues that had plagued my roof prior to their work. For that quality of work, I would have given them full marks. However... Following the completion of the work, there have been several issues that have arisen: First, multiple types of debris (a sharp cut metal piece that my dog began to eat before my wife took it and sliced her knee, dozens of rusty roofing nails, dozens of pieces of plastic from roofing material) were left after the job was finished, in spite of the signed contract indicating they would clean up all materials. When called for the cut piece of metal, they denied it was theirs; it perfectly matched the metal used on the roof... Even after they responded and came back to do more clean up for the nails/plastic, there was still debris remaining around the perimeter of my house. Second, and more importantly, approximately two weeks after completion of the project, my hot water heater ceased functioning showing an indicator for an obtrusion in the venting. The company that installed my hot water heater did a service call, pulled out the debris blocking the venting, which turned out to be old roofing material. When the job was in progress I remembered one of the crew members using a leaf blower to remove excess material from the roof; I also noticed they had not put any type of plastic over the venting to ensure nothing was forcibly blown into it. When I called Top Side to address this issue, it took nearly 6 weeks of intermittent and dismissive communication to actually have this issue addressed. When Duane, a manager, spoke to the owner, Phil, the verdict was that, from the photos, it looked like "bugs" had gotten into my venting. When I assured them that the service company and myself had seen the material and it was certainly roofing material (which is evident from the photos, again, Top Side roofing denied it was their responsibility. Had it just been the quality of the job, I would have happily recommended this company to anyone who asked. Based on the above issues, I highly recommend that you avoid Top Side Roofing if you hope to contract company that maintains contractual obligations and provides adequate customer service should the need arise."

"My home inspection report flagged the chimney as 'needs attention.' This item was the last on my 'bucket list' since moving in two years ago. He said he thought it might have been a 'DIY' patch job that needed repair. I called and setup an appointment for an inspection, $110. I was concerned this might be a major project. Bob and crew arrived right on time and did the inspection. Bob told me the chimney was in great shape, has a steel flue used by the gas furnace and water heater. I asked Bob why he thought the inspector flagged it. He said, 'He's not a brick mason'. This is one of the most experienced, honest service contractors I has ever hired. Very highly recommended."
