"We requested a bid for installation of recessed kitchen lighting. What we got was an estimate for the cost of rewiring the knob-and-tube in our entire house, plus the cost of the fixtures. The rewiring alone was estimated over $18,000. Our home inspector informed us about knob-and-tube when we moved in, as well as the excellent condition of the wiring. Adding LED fixtures would have been a low draw on the system and we have since gotten a far better bid from another electrician. Our impression was that we were given a hard sell to spend almost $20,000 on a big project we did not ask for. There was no alternative solution offered. Additionally, the price quoted for the fixtures was very higher, higher than any I could find on a basic Internet search for the same fixtures, so big price gouging there on the materials. I am confident that these are skilled electricians, but as a homeowner and consumer, I felt that we were not heard and that the company, as represented by the initial contact with the lead electrician who seems to primarily be a salesman, is interested only in big-ticket jobs. If you need a big commercial project done, you may find Seatown to be your best choice. As a homeowner, I felt like the company's next prospective sale. We won't hire this company."

"Our project included the purchase and installation of a new gas furnace together with a new central air conditioning system. The installation team was very professional, on time and and left the place spotless upon completion of the project. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Thank you again for making this project such a pleasant experience!"

"<p>Excellent! I know that the straight A's on the ratings probably sounds phony, but I can not find a single thing concerning this project to be unhappy about!... Other than the failure happened in the first place, of course. I have never used these folks before, and, no, I'm not a relative of anybody at Favinger.</p> <p>We did 2 quotes and Favinger's came in a little lower than the full project would have been with the other guys. I also liked the method of installation that Favinger's lead man on our project , Ross, described, so we went with them.</p> <p>The project went without a hitch, despite the terrain. It was the most vertical 2 foot deep, hand dug ditch I've ever seen. The waterline was sleeved and bedded in pea gravel, just as described. All was done with a minimum of impact on our yard and in just a few days. They cleaned everything up to the point that you would hardly know they were there!</p> <p>They needed to run the last part of the line under the house to connect up to our system. All was done in copper, at my request, with no up-charge. It was securely fastened and looked like it belonged there. Top quality work.</p> <p>Even the hose bib was of a better quality than I expected, and rather than feeding it from the closest access point, Ross took the extra time necessary to feed it from a point another 20 feet up the line so that we would have better flow at the faucet. </p> <p>The final bill actually reflected a discount because they didn't have to pay for a core drill to get through our foundation.</p> <p>I have never been treated so fairly, nor witnessed as high a degree of professionalism from a contractor before. Ross and his crew did an outstanding job. We will definitely be calling on Favinger Plumbing the next time we have a need.</p> <br />"

"The plumber was professional and the work was good. <br> <br>The cost for this work was outrageous.  Judge for yourself. <br> <br>$ 89.50 Dispatch Fee <br> 334.64 Install customer supplied kitchen faucet <br> 208.92 Replace washing machine water supply hoses <br>   51.69 Tax <br>-  25.00 Coupon from website <br>  <br>$659.75 Total Bill <br>   <br>I called Gary’s Plumbing in March 2016 to ask how they could justify charging so much for their work.  The receptionist  politely explained that they have flat fees for each job type and that <b>their fees include shop overhead</b>.  Their work is guaranteed for 2 years, they only use the best parts, their plumbers are highly trained, and each plumber drives a truck that is equipped with a complete stock of parts.  I explained that average homeowners cannot afford their prices. <br> <br>Note:  I recently hired a different plumbing company to replace the inside parts and supply hoses on two toilets, and their total cost was $217, including parts. <br> <br>"

"I will begin from the beginning, After making initial contact with the company Rick and Cindi came out to meet us and check out the scope of our work. We started with just doing a  couple bathrooms and our bedroom for a remodel. After being paired with Cindi through Adaptations Studio. I will say that everything went rather smoothly and we were able to grasp what we were getting ourselves into. I think the only negative that I could pull from the entire design aspect is perhaps Cindi was a little too cautious with her choices for helping with our finishes. I don't mean any disrespect but I felt that sometimes we were pushed more into her comfort zone than having someone really get creative or think out of the box and push the design side of things. Again this is nothing against adaptations I just feel we are probably on the younger side of most of their clients and was looking for a little s**** in Bellingham. After what seemed like months of drawing and redrawing and picking finishes we were ready to get into the goods.  <br />             It was at this point we were handed over to A-1. Mike Gill would be our man on this and I could not write enough good stuff about this man. If you are going to spend six months with strangers in your house this is the guy you want. He is also one h*** of a carpenter. To try and save a little coin I decided I would do demo, and final paint. <br />             I think you can really judge a company by their subs and every single person that walked through our front door was amazing. From electrical, plumbing, tile, wood, everyone was top notch and to be honest it was at this time that we really felt we had made the right decision. Throughout the entire process everything was explained to us. We even added a few changes like remodel of fireplace and stairwell. These changes were not small and were met with smiles and go get em attitudes. In the end, we felt like we got what we paid for. Is A-1 the cheapest company? Of course not. But with their higher prices comes a first rate crew and the best subs in the area. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to make their house a home. Everyone was great to work with and I am sure if I am in need of some more changes within my house I would not hesitate to call up A-1 and have them make my dreams a reality.  <br /> <br />"

"Legacy Remodeling did an awesome job to our bathrooms and family room. It turned out beautifully and was completed on time. After meeting up with Alvaro (owner) several times to discuss the projects, we decided to hire him. The best part about this renovation was that Alvaro did the work himself with very good eye on details, as well he is very knowledgeable on plumbing, tiles, carpentry and electrical. Also, he has a great crew. Often, they worked weekends and stayed late. We were very happy with Alvaro and his crew and, we plan to hire them again soon for our next house project."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bellingham, WA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
