The work was completed in only two days and the crew worked nonstop to get it done. The work was flawless and the wall is in top condition now. "First the good stuff.  They did an excellent job on the craftsmanship.  The wall and walkway look amazing.  The wall is a short sitting wall curved to follow a broken paver pathway.  The wall has 8 lights and covers about 40 linear feet enclosing a garden. 
The walkway is especially well done with nice thin mortar joints between the stones.  Arranging the irregular stones is like assembling a puzzle and they did a great job.
The price was reasonable, neither low or high. 
One thing to note in dealing with them.  Make sure you write down exactly what you expect.  The contract contained minimal description and I added a couple written paragraphs and a drawing.  This became an issue when they originally built the wall incorrectly.  To their credit the didn't argue much and fixed it up.  Would also suggest that telling the site manager anything verbally does not mean its getting done.  Write it down.   Again nothing deliberate, they just don't write it down and forget.

"Distinctive Landscaping did a major project behind our house that completely changed the looks of the back yard. We had lived in the house for 32 years and this was a project I had thought about many times, but I had to find the right landscape designer to implement it. Kurt was that person. He listened to my vision and came up with a design which was modified several times until it was ready to go. The area behind the house had erosion problems and he planned a retaining wall that solved this and flowed into a walkway that curved behind the porch and deck. Kurt dropped off samples of stone pavers in different colors and we are very happy with the choice we made. The work began in December, 2017, then had to be delayed because the ground was frozen to a greater depth than in most winters. When the elements allowed work resumed. The crew was exceptional, not hurrying, but doing precision work. We were so pleased that we decided to redo our 22 year old flagstone patio using the same stone pavers. Shrubs were added along part of the walkway. Four shrubs were also planted in the front yard. The work spanned almost three months (mostly due to weather related interruptions) and by Spring, the back yard had a whole new look with a walkway and patio that we could use and enjoy."

"We hired GSB for a large addition to our home and were happy with the final product. We initially presented them with rough sketches of what we wanted. They were very attentive and came back with a better vision of our space, including the addition of a powder room and wet bar. We stressed our desired for the addition to preserve the mid-century modern look and feel of our home and they delivered. Construction progressed at a solid pace, with various work crews showing up each day. They took great care to move furniture out of the way of construction and carefully installed temporary walls to separate the new construction from our existing living space, which we continued to occupy during the entire project. Interior tarps were also used to minimize the introduction of construction dust into our HVAC system. They showed great attention to detail in our project from the suggestion of materials to the final workmanship.
