"Foundation Repair. We have had opportunity to use PowerLift twice in the past. Once in 2005 and once in 2009. The situation was that the clay soil in the Charlotte area expands and contracts with temperature and moisture. What had happened in 2005 was that cracks had appeared in the north side of the brick on our home. I contacted Jim McCown who came out and did a thorough inspection of the foundation. He found that piers were needed around the north west corner of our house. We had the repairs completed and were pleased with the result. They even repaired the cracks themselves so the brick was sound. Fast forward to 2009. We found that we were having problems with some of the interior and exterior doors operating correctly. I again called PowerLift, ready to accuse them of warranty issues with their work. As it turned out, the repairs done previously were fine, but the west side of our house, under the deck, needed remediation. PowerLift came out, dismantled the portion of the deck that was in the way, and stabilized the foundation in that area. Again, the cracks were repaired and the house stabilized. Fast forward to 2023. We're preparing to sell our home, so had Jim come out and verify that the piers were still doing their job. He verified that we were still in good shape. Are there other companies who do foundation repair? I suppose so, but we were so pleased with working with PowerLift in general and Jim McCown in particular that we could see no benefit in going anywhere else. "Just had a great experience with Carolina Foundation Solutions. Andrew provided a clear overview of the options for a bowing basement wall and settling corner. Robert, Wesley, and Marvin did the work. Andrew knew the pros and cons for the solutions and explained them well. I am a tough-minded engineer and have very high standards for worksmanship. Robert, Wesley, and Marvin did a FANTASTIC job. They were punctual, thorough, and professional. They put in helical supports for the corner and carbon fiber straps for the bowing wall. I did not do any comparison pricing."

"Our soil is all clay which has the highest risk of damaging a foundation as it alternates between wet and dry. Even a light rain would leave us a soggy yard for days as most of the roof drained to the lawn via downspouts or popups. Water would collect at the front of our house because the front yard and driveway sloped down to the house. The builder used flimsy corrugated plastic tubes for underground connections to pop ups on the lawn. (One of flimsy tubes was blocked with debris.) Drain Designs did an excellent job connecting new commercial grade 4 inch PVC pipes to all downspouts plus installed two surface drains to collect water at the house front. The three-team crew (Rob, Dalton and Jonny) were courteous, skilled and hard working. They hand dug trenches next to the foundation against our home, carefully removing any plants which they watered and set aside. The PVC pipes were placed and securely connected with screws. All of the roof’s rain was directed through the underground PVCs to the woods behind our house. Downspout cleanouts for flushing were placed. The plants were replanted so carefully that neighbors could not tell that the work had been done. In the following week we had two intense downpours during which the new system worked flawlessly. No water pooled at the front of the house or in our yard. We highly recommend Drain Designs. BTW, their guarantee is a lifetime…not my lifetime but the home’s because it’s a Transferable Lifetime Warranty."

"Contacted this company to provide a complete structural engineer report for our new home which was built in 1910. They have a lot of experience with older homes and we felt very comfortable with them from the start. <br /> Jessica Kimes was our project engineer. She is very professional, understand what she is doing, is able to explain everything very well, listened to all of our questions and was extremely helpful. She completed a full scale schematic for us to provide to our contractor who was completing the necessary work. She sat down with our contractor and explained everything she found, explained exactly what she was requiring to complete the work, and answered all of his questions. She even spent time emailing and texting him and us when we had questions or concerns. <br /> She completed a follow-up inspection once our contractors were finished and she found 1 item not completed and required them to return and finish it to her specification before she was willing or able to supply us with the finished paperwork. <br /> She did not come back for a final inspection once that job was done, but upon the word of our contractor, she submitted the final paperwork to us with their stamp of approval and completion. <br /> We will definitely hire them again should we need to. <br />"

"Keith Locker presented Shamrock in a most professional manner for an estimate of work to be done in a basement closet. The closet has two walls which are part of the cinderblock foundation. Although these walls do not leak, the efflorescence was both unsightly and rubbed off on anything that touched it. Shamrock was able to work me into their schedule early and I greatly appreciated it. The work, however, was less than professional. While the back wall looked great (so I know they can do good work), the side wall looked decidedly less so. While I am perfectly aware that basement walls are imperfect, I know that they could have done better on the side wall based on the back wall. When I asked about the issue with the side wall, Shamrock shrugged that that was the best they could do. When I asked Keith to review the pictures that I would send to Angie's List with this review, he complained that I was insufficiently appreciative of the work done and about how little money he had made on the job. I had planned to give Shamrock a B, but his comments lowered this review to a C. He did give me a helpful hint about how I can remove the writing on the side wall trim. So that's something, I guess."

"I had a flood for the first time in the crawlspace and basement. I called Regional Foundation & Crawlspace Repair to come out. They wanted 27K for crawlspace encapsulation, that was too much and I could do most the work myself. I instead paid them $5,000.00 to bury a geodrain and install a triple safe sump pump system. This is the job they did, they installed the sump pumps at the 3rd to lowest point in the crawlspace and this geodrain goes back and forth from uphill to downhill. The lowest point still allows water to flood downstairs. They also cracked a chunk of my foundation at the point of sump pumps egress. Outside they just threw rocks on ground were the water comes out and can get back into the ground to reenter the crawlspace. They got 1 star because the people were nice, their job was not. Update as of 4/23/2024 they contacted me and said they wanted to make sure everything was good. A Girl and guy came out and noticed a couple things I didn't and said they would fix it that their company does not do work like that. They dug up all the previous geodrain and moved it to walls, tried to level out the drain and changed the location of the pumps and the drain outside. She had a really good work ethic and never took a break. The guy was on the other side of house and think he did good too. Everything they did looked professional and looks like they fixed everything. They had to come back today to finish the work today, but had three of them. It all looks good and they tested everything. They apologized about the old work and were not sure went wrong, but I don't have a negative view of the company now and am satisfied with the work they did. Just nocking one star for the under trained individuals that came the first time, the second crew was great!"
