"I built my house 2 yrs ago and had a gravel drive which was starting to need attention. Either more gravel or go ahead and have drive paved by a paving co. I called Nathaniel Pate, Owner of Pate and sons Paving, and asked him to come and give me a quote for asphalt paving to restore my drive. He came by that afternoon and measured the drive and explained in detail what needed to be done to make the driveway not only functional but nice looking to add curb appeal and value to my property. He knew just exactly what needed to be done and gave me the quote, which was surprisingly more reasonable than I expected. He told me it would be one to two weeks, I told him to call me when he was ready to do job and to my surprise, he called one week later and today I have a beautiful, fresh neat, clean drive that really completed the look of my house and property. No more muddy, messy driveway here !!! I really didn't know what to expect from this project but let me tell you, If you want a very professional and reliable co to take care of your driveway issues, Call Nathaniel and you will be pleased 100% in every way with his company's work. When he came by to pick up payment and to make sure I was happy with the job, I told him the drive was too pretty to drive on, He laughed, but I meant it. I am so proud of my new drive and I would absolutely without a doubt recommend Pate and Sons Paving any time.  And one more thing... My 10 year old grandson told me he couldn't wait to ride his scooter on it. More good times ahead !!! Thanks for reading this ...you won't be sorry .....call them today and get that new drive !!!"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Bernice, LA

With routine care, an asphalt parking lot lasts 20 years. Plan to resurface every 15 years and sealcoat every three to five years, and tackle cracks as soon as they appear. Sticking to this schedule keeps the surface smooth, safe, and code-compliant, helping you get the full life span from your investment.

Installing a parking lot typically takes between two and four weeks, depending on factors such as size and weather conditions. The process includes ordering materials, site preparation, paving, curing time, and adding finish touches like paint striping. Please note that larger projects or unexpected weather delays may extend this timeline. Working with local professionals and suppliers can help keep the project on schedule and potentially reduce costs.

Maintenance depends on the surface you have. For asphalt, sealcoat every few years, resurface every 15 to 20 years, and patch potholes right away. Concrete lots require regular cleaning, inspections, and occasional patching. Whatever the material, create a maintenance calendar—and follow it—to keep the lot safe, attractive, and less expensive to own.

Apply a fresh sealcoat every two to five years, or sooner if heavy traffic fades the surface. Sealcoating fills hairline cracks, locks out moisture, and renews that deep black finish drivers recognize. Staying on schedule extends the pavement’s life and helps you avoid costly repairs down the road.

Professional sealcoating costs $0.15 to $0.30 per square foot, with rates influenced by lot size, local labor costs, and the type of sealer used. While you can rent sprayers, hiring a crew delivers even coverage, proper curing, and a warranty—advantages that protect both your pavement and your budget.
