"Cornman Concrete and Paving did four projects at my new farmette: installed a new gravel parking area at the side of my house and concrete walkway to my front door, regraveled and regraded my badly damaged driveway, installed gravel in a grassy area next to my barn to allow trucks to deliver, and installed a high traffic area pad for my horses. All done quickly and exactly as I had hoped!"

"Tom provided the best quote out of 3 companies. He came out the same day I called gave and gave a quote on the spot. Since I gave 2 other companies a chance to quote I waited until those quotes came through before making a decision. Not only did he provide the best price the job turned out perfectly. Tom and his crew got rid of the bottom 1/3 of my driveway which was cracked up pretty bad and replaced it with new asphalt. He put a tar strip down at the seam. <br /> I highly recommend A1 Paving for your paving needs. You won't be disappointed. <br />"

"We had our driveway widened and resurfaced and JR's Driveway Service is an excellent example of a local business that’s aware of the level of service they perform. JR and his crew did a superb job on our driveway and added a great deal of additional curb appeal to our property as a result. Every member of JR's team was professional, courteous and laser-focused on getting the job done right. The amount of work that went into the prepping of the area was very thorough, which in turn made the laying out of the new asphalt that much more precise and neat. We continue to find very reputable contractors on Angie's List and JR's Driveway Service is no exception. Angie's List has become our primary go-to source to find dependable and reliable contractors when a job is too big for these DIYers or beyond our skill set."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Harrisburg, PA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
