"A+ all around and HIGHLY recommend Brian and Sandy! From start to finish, professionalism all around. I had previously used another radon company in my prior home and was disappointed with the sloppy work of the installers and overall disappointing level of service. Brian came out to the house right on time, as scheduled. He proceeded to explain to me my installation options given a relatively tight area with limited choices to route the exhaust pipe. We decided on the most appealing spot and he explained how he would cut into the block wall to make a clean cut, and where he would drill into the floor to put the 4" pipe. Throughout the process he was extremely attentive and courteous - draping the workspace in a canvas dropcloth to protect against dust, using a shop-vac while drilling to keep the area clean, and overall just being a conscientous houseguest by removing his shoes inside, etc. From start to finish it took about 2 hours and the finished product looked fantastic. Do yourself a favor. Don't look anywhere else and give them a call. You won't be disappointed!"

"The service provided was Excellent! The radon level is now safe!! Joh and his team agreed to instal the system on one of the coldest days of the year in early Jan because I was worried and didn't want to wait for better weather. They were punctual, professional and personable. Joh helped pick the location for the unit so that it would be functional but also uninstrusive in the basement and on the outside of the house. Except for the soft whirring sound you would never know the system was there. It blends in so well on the outside that it just looks like another drain spout. I couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to lower the radon in their house to a safe level."

"John was great to work with. He was able to accommodate a quick turn around on an inspection, and his inspection was very thorough and helpful. John is very knowledgeable and was eager to explain everything. He went above and beyond to start radon tests early, and he was willing to stay as long as was necessary for the inspection itself. We received the inspection report promptly, just a day after the inspection. I would highly recommend the services of Citywide."

"Originally one of the names provided by my realtor, I check all names through Angies List and give preferences to those who are listed.  So, I reached out to George and talked with him about the new home we were purchasing.  We scheduled for him to come out to the house and perform a home inspection, radon test and pest inspection (which was subbed out).  It was a great experience. <br /> George took his time and pointed out the issues of the 1969 house.  We appreciated his patience with answering our questions and his thoroughness of the inspection.  The final report was provided that weekend (inspection was on a Friday). <br /> We would recommend George to our family and friends who need a quality home inspector. <br /> <br />"

"Randy showed up early and did not try to rush through it. He encouraged us to ask many questions and made sure we understood everything he was go over. It ended up being more than just an inspection as it was really a crash course for new homeowners on the maintenance and upkeep of homes. He provided us with the report the same day, except for the radon results as those take at least 48 hours to complete. The report was very thorough and even included pictures with recommendations of what to get fixed/repaired immediately as to those that can wait. <br />"

"A thorough job. No one wants to heat bad news, but you rather have early than find problems later. All the information turned out to conform with what we were finding out about the house. All of the possible issues were reviewed and covered in an extensive report with pictures of the issues found. Its not a big house, so the inspection did not take all that long. The inspectors were upfront about what they could not evaluate (solar panels on the roof, certain plumbing and electrical issues)."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Bethel Park, PA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
