"I called Don Anton Paving at the high recommendation of our home inspector. The receptionist was friendly, took our address, and said someone would call me back later that day or the next day to schedule a visit so they could give me a price quote. <br /> <br /> The following day someone called with a quote, having already visited the house. I was impressed with the professionalism and prompt service, so I went ahead and scheduled the service. I was told they would be out the following week to do the work. <br /> The week came and went, and no one arrived. I called them, they apologized and said another job was taking them longer than expected, but that someone would be out that week to do it. Another week came and went with no one stopping by to do the work. I called them again, and again they apologized. Again they told me someone would be out in a few days to take care of it. In the mean time we had a new tenant trying to move into our new two-family home, and they were bottoming out their car every time they drove in and out of the driveway. <br /> Finally someone arrived to do the work. They were at the house first thing in the morning, laid the blacktop, flattened it, then they took off, leaving one truck at the house. A few hours later someone arrived to pick up the truck. I walked out to talk to him but he was on the phone, put up his hand to motion for me to wait a moment, so I did. A few minutes later he started the truck and drove off, with me still standing in my front lawn, without ever speaking to me. <br /> I went inside to call the company. I needed to know when we could drive on it, what our final bill was, and find out who/how we pay. The receptionist was very friendly and told me she would call me back to let me know the answers to my questions. A few minutes later she called with the information about the driveway and said my bill would be in the mail. A week later I did receive the bill in the mail, for the exact price they quoted me. <br /> I will say they did a fantastic job on the end of the driveway. They filled in a near foot deep dip so cars no longer bottom out. But, while I was impressed by their initial friendly professionalism, and was very happy with the work they did, I'm not sure I would use them again, due to their very slow service and lack of communication about when they would actually perform the job. Had they communicated better (calling me to let me know there was a delay), I would have no complaint at all. <br />"

"We were having water washing down from above our pool and needed to have it diverted. After the great job Craig did on the driveway, I had him come to install a French drain on the hill along our fence line. Craig and one employee came in at 7am and worked all day to get the job finished, leaving at 7pm. They had to dig down 7-8 feed in one area and filled it in with pipe and stone. I have had no problems with the water since the drain was installed and we have had several heavy rains. I no longer have water running through the pool shed and onto the decking. This could save having the one side of my pool cave in! His price was fair and he included grading and seeding the ground damaged by the equipment. He also filled dirt in along the driveway because he wanted it to blend better from the paving to the yard. Craig goes above and beyond, keeping the area looking neat and doing more to have the job finished correctly. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for excavating and driveway work. <br />"

"They did the job over two seasons; they put the base coat and they came back in the spring and did the final coat. Everything turned out very good. I got an estimate from someplace else but Band B Paving And Concrete people were good and reasonably priced. They did the job on time and I was very satisfied with them. I would definitely recommend them to others."

"Because of a cancellation, Joe Tomanek asked if he could start our job several days early and we agreed. They moved in just before noon and the job was complete by 5pm. Their equipment was obviously well-maintained and worked properly and the crew worked together as a team. The attention to detail was obvious they showed respect for our home and existing walks and paver-block parking area. For instance, they temporarily removed a gutter down spout to gain access to the area below it for uniform compaction of the blacktop. They also raised the level of a drop-inlet to match the contour of the new surface and spent extra time rolling the back fill I had placed over a drain pipe that paralleled the edge of the paving. Several times during the paving operation and then again as it neared completion, I was asked if I was satisfied. Their concern for my satisfaction was obvious and was not limited to Joe the foreman--each of the men reflected this concern. Nearing the end of the paving, Joe sent out for an additional ton of material to even out the appearance of an apron that leads off the driveway to a lower, unpaved drive. He was concerned with the aesthetics, not the functionality and he was right, it looks better now."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Binghamton, NY

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
