Larger projects such as rewiring, remodels, deck construction, are done with a fixed-price contract and all elements calculated via a site visit with owner for a total price thereafter. Local area estimates are free, but a nominal charge is required for out-of-area estimate requests to offset fuel & maintenance costs for business vehicle plus nonproductive time lost ( I credit customer this if we are hired to do a job).
