"I received this referral from Duke Energy. My home was built as housing for managers for a nearby cotton mill, probably in the late 20's or early 30's. During a remodel, the original ceiling was lowered by 3 feet. This meant that insulation had to be blown in between the two ceilings. The gentleman who did my estimate was very knowledgeable, very professional. He explained exactly what I needed, and advised about other possible insulation needs. The two installers who came were very polite and personable. More importantly, they were very professional. They were on time, worked extremely well together and that resulted in the job being completed in a timely manner with a minimum of disruption to my home. This company gets my highest recommendation. The price was fair, communication excellent, and their personnel was very knowledgeable and professional."

"Needed a solution for a room above a garage that was hotter than the rest of the upstairs. It was recommended to add insulation to the garage ceiling, air seal the attic, and add additional insulation to the attic. Since then, the room above the garage has been the same temperature as the downstairs. Great work and wonderful solution. Price point came in on average $1000 less than most quotes we received."

"This past winter my house (1550 sq. ft., one level) was extremely drafty, my heat pump was running constantly, and my power bill was more than it has ever been. After reading great reviews on the Internet about Joe and Energy Smith, I scheduled a consultation at the end of Feb. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable and helped me select what I needed. It was installed March 19 by a professional crew. Although it isn't inexpensive ($1,870), I have found it was worth every penny. The $250 Duke rebate arrived very quickly, as well. It was the original insulation in my home, and there were huge gaps where air was escaping. Since the installation, my central heat and now my central air doesn't run half as much or as long. My home is so much more comfortable. And my bills are lower, too. I live alone so my Duke bill wasn't huge to begin with but pre-insulation, my bills were higher than ever -- $101.92, $111.43 and $93.99 in January, February and March. After insulation, in April, it was $65.95, May was $61.22 and June was $63.29. I'm sure my next bill will be low as well. Last year's bills were about $20 more. This is the best investment I have ever made in my home. It's definitely money well spent!"

FAQs for batt, rolled or reflective insulation install or upgrade projects in Boiling Springs, SC

Batt insulation excels in vertical installations because it remains firmly in place and delivers consistent thermal performance. Blown-in insulation performs exceptionally in spaces such as attics, efficiently filling gaps in irregular areas.

Employing both insulation types according to their strengths enhances your home’s overall energy efficiency and comfort by providing a tailored solution for every space.

Start by measuring the square footage of the space, then match that area with the insulation thickness you need to hit your target R-value. Add a buffer for waste and odd-shaped spots so every cavity is covered.

Once you have a rough count, run it past a local insulation pro—their on-site advice will fine-tune the numbers and help you avoid costly miscalculations.

Old insulation that is dry, intact, and mold-free does not require removal before adding new insulation; stacking new insulation over it maintains effective thermal performance and boosts energy efficiency.

If the insulation is damp, moldy, or deteriorated, removal is necessary to eliminate health risks and ensure maximum effectiveness of the new layer. A professional insulation contractor will assess your situation and recommend the most effective solution.

Installing insulation in an average-sized home using batts or boards requires five to 12 hours. Using spray foam or blown-in insulation requires two to five hours. These timeframes are determined by the area’s size, accessibility, and whether old insulation must be removed.

Complex projects and hard-to-reach spaces demand extra time. Hiring an experienced insulation professional ensures that the installation is completed efficiently and correctly.

Insulation is measured by R-value, which defines how effectively it resists heat flow. A higher R-value provides superior thermal resistance, ensuring your home remains warm in winter and cool in summer.

Choosing the correct R-value is essential for maximizing energy efficiency and comfort, and it directly impacts long-term utility savings. Professional guidance determines the optimal R-value for your specific climate.
