"Travis and his team did a wonderful job at completing our front yard landscaping vision. They worked with us to come up with a plan that fit our esthetic and budget. They weren’t pushy or upsellers like some of the companies I had previously interviewed. They were knowledgeable about which types of plants to use where and why, they were punctual and completed the job in a very timely manner, they were professional and left the site clean and tidy each day, and they even did little things to go above and beyond (brought our trash cans out on trash day without being asked, refilled our dog’s water when it was low, etc.). We had a very positive experience with Travis and his team and we were very happy with our curb appeal after they completed the job. We would recommend them for a landscaping job."

"We engaged Exterior Designs (Jose Castro) for major backyard remodels at two different homes in 2010 and 2013. Collectively, the projects involved complete yard demo, extensive hardscape work, installation of retainer walls, built- in BBQs, outdoor fireplaces, patio and covers – along with associated electrical, irrigation, lighting and drainage work. In our experience… Jose was professional and fair. He keeps his word and, if you have any concerns or issues, will work with you to resolve them. I never had difficulty getting ahold of him or experienced unreasonable delays in hearing back on messages. He was personally involved in our project. He was almost always on our job site in the morning to kick off the work, and would call nearly every night to check in. His team was great to work with…very respectful, hardworking, friendly, etc. They showed up when expected, they worked, they always cleaned up and they left. Big landscaping projects are moving targets, so you will find things you want to change. Jose is creative, and has a good eye for things – he’ll offer ideas but he lets you make the decisions. He is also flexible – just work closely with him to scope any changes or additions clearly so he can provide an accurate estimate of the cost. We strongly recommend you consider Exterior Designs for your project. We selected Jose for our first job in 2010 out of three bidders and, when we needed another yard done a few years later, we just went directly with Jose. "We are looking to replace our large front lawn with  water-wise landscaping, with the objective of qualifying for the water district rebate which is available for replacing turf with low water use plants, and with the further objective of hoping to lessen our water usage.  After reading reviews on Angie's List we called Kirk and set up an appointment for him to come to our home.  He arrived at our home at the appointed time.  We explained to him our objectives and he listened attentively to our needs and limitations.  He thoroughly surveyed the area and took measurements before leaving.  We gave him the guidelines and plant list from the water authority.  He said that he would send us pictures of some of the plants he chose from the list so that  we could indicate any that we did not like.  The next week we received the labeled colored pictures of the plants and we indicated the ones we did not care for.  He was very accommodating and willing to be sure we were completely satisfied with the plant selection. <br />  Yesterday he met with us with the completed design plan.  He had done a very nice job and we were  pleased.  The plans (three copies) were complete with names of plants, number of plants, and pictures of each plant in color.  He carefully  explained to us his use of each plant and how it fits into the total design.  Kirk prompted us to ask any questions we might have and was very open to any concerns we had.  We are very happy that he has kept in mind the limited budget we have for installation and plants, and created a design not elaborate but attractive using plants of varying textures and sizes which complement each other. <br /> Kirk is very easy to work with and attentive to the desires and needs of the client. <br />"
