"Our home has a patio in the back that faces due Southeast and we overlook a large chunk of Open Space. During a recent visit by my daughter, we were sitting out there one morning when it was quite sunny. She said "Dad...you need an awning!" So I started searching. SunSetters.com is a large (if not the largest) online awning supplier. I then searched through Home Advisor and the #1 hit was King Awnings. Based in Denver, CO and Santa Ana, CA. I made a call to the number listed and left a message. I received an almost immediate response from Mr. Ron Huntley who is the Owner and President of King Awnings. We talked at length and agreed to meet the next day at my home. I had done my homework on SunSetters and I believe they have a good product, but the drawback was finding an installer who would do the install for a reasonable price. Ron arrived at the appointed time on September 29, 2020. After about one hour with Ron, I signed a contract for what is similar to the SunSetter top of the line Platinum model. Two things superior with King Awnings. Warranty and free installation. SunSetter offers a 10-year warranty, but King is 15 years. Both use the Sunbrella fabric which is the highest rated...period! I said two things. How about three? The price with King was about $500 less than SunSetter and it included installation. I received install quotes from $750 all the way to $2500. So I saved well over $1000+ in the end. Ron's crew (Cody & Ryan) arrived on October 22, 2020 and started the install which took four hours (just as they said). Perfect & clean install. One of the options that was added was a drop down valance, which I was going to get with SunSetter anyway. Cody & Ryan came back today (October 23) to install a heavier rod in the drop down valance, which will hold it in place better than the one that came with it (that was a Home Depot purchase) that they made and they do that for all of those drop down valances. After watching Cody & Ryan during the install, I don't know who would possess the knowledge and skills needed for a self-install. I live in a community just south of Denver. If you are looking for an awning, you won't go wrong with King Awnings."
