"On New Year's Eve morning, we discovered our pipes were frozen. Brian fit us into a busy schedule (we weren't the only ones in our area with this problem!) and provided EXCELLENT communication regarding his estimated time of arrival -- we knew exactly where we were in the and quot;queueand quot; among his other last-minute jobs that day, and he was clear about how to best reach him at all times. He was professional, thoughtful, and affordable. We absolutely plan to continue using him for all our future plumbing needs. <br />"

"They showed up on the day they said they would and completed the project on schedule. We had a few problems with the boiler shutting itself off and requiring a manual reset. They were very responsive with their troubleshooting and eventually found it was a problem with the pressure in the gas line. They installed a regulator and it's worked perfectly ever since. <br /> I'd hire them again, and I go out of my way to recommend them to friends and family. <br />"

"I called ACB on referral from another, larger local company I called first.  The larger company said they couldn't get out before Friday, and it was Monday.  After having my septic system pumped but finding it still backed up I needed to have the pipe between the house and the septic tank un-blocked.  I called them at about 1:30 in the afternoon, and they were at my house in 30 minutes.  When I spoke to the woman who answered the phone, she explained that they would be sending 2 workers out due to the nature of the job and equipment in use, and gave me their hourly rates and explained that they charge round trip travel as well.  She gave me an estimated total, and explained if there were any extra charges they would discuss with me on site.  The guys knew what they were doing, and got right to it. They couldn't feed the jet into the line from the septic tank end like they wanted to, so instead went inside and went through from there, which required pulling a toilet off and replacing it after.  They worked quickly, and efficiently, explained what they did and answered all of my questions, and were gone in less than 2 hours, for slightly LESS than what I was originally estimated.  I was very pleased to get such prompt and effective service, and will definitely call them again in the future when needed. <br />"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bowdoinham, ME

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
