"I needed stucco repair work on an old chimney (and other spots). Grady was meticulous and thoughtful on what approaches and materials would work. Throughout the project they allocated sufficient time for each treatment to cure and inspected the work before proceeding to the next step. Grady started the project with no money down and only required ongoing payments for materials until the project was well underway. The final payment was due only after they did a final inspection. Total project cost was also below other bids."

Joey was prompt at giving a reasonable estimate for the work and flexible on modifications to the job.  He and his team arrived on time every day and were professional and courteous.  They did quality work in a good time frame.  In two days, the job was completed and clean up was very good.  All-in-all a good experience.

"George and his crew did an outstanding job! They were prompt, courteous, professional and really seemed to enjoy their work. George came to meet with us to estimate the work and provided us a quote within 1 business day. From estimate to completion, the team completed the job in 5 business days.
After day 1 we didn't like one of the colors we had chosen after seeing it on the walls. We talked with George about it and he was very accommodating, and just wanted to make sure we would be happy with the final results. This was a big change, but George only charged us for the cost of replacing the paint.
Overall, we were extremely happy with the quality of the work and would highly recommend George's painting to others!

"Robert was quick to respond, professional and easy to work with. I had some larger tasks like installing gutter guards, re-sealing 8 windows, re-securing a loose cable line to the house, re securing a deck step and adjusting my patio cover gutter, etc.. I also had a lot of smaller projects too, like cutting & installing a small piece of baseboard trim, installing a garage shelf, replacing a short fence board, adjusting a gate, tightening cable rails in my fence, installing patio curtain hardware, etc., all which had been on my honey-do list for a few years. I also had a wild-card hardwood fence project that I wasn't sure how to tackle, and we decided to leave it off the project for now. Robert sent me the bid timely, but only 5 items were on it. We discussed this by phone and he said he was unsure how to bid for some of them and "we would see how it goes". I found that really curious, and it made no sense to me (to cut a 1 inch piece of baseboard trim takes less than 5 minutes, nailing it and caulking the finish maybe 15 minutes total, so how hard is it to decide to charge $40 for it?). However, I was so excited to finally have my laundry list of tasks completed, I let that go. On the Sunday he began the job, Robert arrived at 12pm and he quickly got to work on the gutter guards. When he finished re-securing the deck step I was unhappy with the gaps between the deck boards and along the side. He reworked it, but there is still a gap between the tread and the rise on the left side, and when you look down on the step, the board is clearly crooked. Also, he secured the loose cable so it didn’t droop, but it’s crooked instead of plumb down the outside edge of the stucco and it’s not aesthetically pleasing. When I asked him to fix it so it runs right along the edge of the corner of the stucco, he was not pleased and he didn’t fix it. Also, after caulking the exterior of the windows, I noticed he didn’t caulk along the top of the window sill of some of the windows (where the window meets the sill). I could tell he was already irritated, so I didn’t bother mentioning it because shortly thereafter, he said he was leaving. It was 2:30pm. I was under the impression he was going to knock it all out in one day, and the only unknown was the pricing on the smaller things as he went along. I guess I misunderstood? In spite of not completing the job I hired him to do, he asked me to pay 70% of what he bid and said his estimate indicated I was to pay 70% deposit and 30% upon completion. The bid was less than $1000, so I told him that contractors are not supposed to charge more than a 10% deposit (per CSLB #22-14). We agreed on 50%, so I paid him. He said he would get back to me on when he can come back out, he texted me Monday, and I didn’t hear from him again until Thursday. His responsiveness had clearly changed. By that point, I had come to conclusion he’s not interested in fixing the work he did or doing the smaller honey-do items on my list, and perhaps he just didn’t know how to communicate it to me. I figured I’d save us both the hassle, so I found someone else who can finish the projects, and I texted and told him there was no need to come back. Robert texted me back, was professional and thanked me, and that was it. We both wasted time on this project, which could have been prevented if he was up front with me (I wouldn’t have hired him if I knew he only wanted to do some of the work, and not all of it). Its unfortunate because I thought trying someone on the smaller projects like this was a great way to get to know their ability, personality and skill level, so I could decide if I want them on my stone veneer and bathroom renovation project next year. I wish this had gone better."

"Rene is hardworking, honest and above all, trustworthy - that is why I hire him. His pricing is also reasonable. The quality of his work is absolutely top notch - I just cannot say how much my wife and I value this. Our basement is fully functional, our kitchen came out looking exactly as we had envisioned it, and our bathrooms look fabulous. Needless to say, I'd recommend Rene in a heartbeat!"

"We bought a house and knew from our inspection that there were two large sections of the exterior faux stone facade where water had seeped in over the years and caused plywood layer to rot.   We asked for several vendors to review our detailed inspection report and take a look at the house and provide us with a proposal.  Alonso was not the cheapest of the bids.  In fact, they were on the higher side.  However, Felipe (owner) was responsive to our initial request from day one, provide a thorough, professional proposal, responsive to my calls and answered many questions around the proposal and the work involved - which raised my comfort level that he knew what he was talking about and that he would do a good job.  All the references that Felipe provided all praised him as well.

He did not disappoint.  He started the work on time, right away, and did a thorough job with his crew in carefully removing the faux stone layer (to be replaced later almost as if nothing had been touched), get to the rotten plywood layer, replace the insulation, plywood, put water proofing materials, and put the faux stone layer back.  He took additional steps to fix other minor parts on the exterior that wasn't even on his proposal.  There was no surprise in any additional cost.  As Felipe promised from the beginning, he finished the project on-time, on cost proposed (with additional work thrown in), and was responsive to meet with me or call me and give me updates.   Overall excellent quality of work, and much better outcome than I had anticipated.  I would use him again for any future projects."

FAQs for traditional stucco repair or partially replace projects in Boyce, VA

Minor stucco fixes—like sealing small cracks or adding fresh caulk—often wrap up in an hour or two. Larger jobs that call for cutting out damaged sections, installing new lath, and layering fresh stucco can stretch to three or four days because each coat needs time to cure. A pro removes loose material, cleans and dampens the area, applies a bonding agent, and builds up new layers, matching texture and restoring the wall’s weather shield.

Watch for a stucco surface that stays damp days after a storm, develops dark stains, or feels soft or spongy under light pressure. Inside, moisture rings, peeling paint, or soft drywall around windows point to the same issue. Any of these red flags mean water is trapped behind the siding, and it’s time to call a stucco pro before rot or mold sets in.

Give your stucco a once-over every spring and fall. Semiannual checks let you catch hairline cracks, stains, or damp spots before they snowball into pricey repairs. Keep a flashlight handy, look closely around windows and doors, and call a pro if you notice anything soft or discolored. Staying ahead of minor issues protects both your curb appeal and your home’s weather barrier.

A pro starts by scraping away loose material, then cleans and lightly wets the area so new stucco will stick. After brushing on a bonding agent, they build fresh layers, letting each coat cure before adding the next. The final step is matching the texture and color so the patch blends in and the wall regains full weather protection.

Think of repair as a patch: the pro fixes only the visible crack or hole. Remediation goes deeper—crews strip away the compromised stucco, correct the root problem (often water or mold), then rebuild the wall. If tests show structural rot or trapped moisture, remediation is the safer, longer-lasting route; otherwise, a straightforward repair often does the trick.
