"I had got my House Inspected from Mark on Aug 2022. everything went fine until I moved into the house. Couple of months after move-in I found old dried water marks in storage and HVAC room in my basement. I was hoping that these water marks were owing to old water heater leaks but then in early 2023 there was heavy rainfall and the HVAC room basement started leaking water into the room. It was then I found that there was a crack in the basement wall. This crack is next the furnace duck and quite easily visible. Mark suggested that he is a season home inspector but I doubt because he missed visible evidence of prior basement flooding and a basement crack that was easily visible. I contacted Mark and send him proofs of his grave mishaps. He asked for proofs whether i have applied the suggested fix per inspection report, to which I promptly responded and then he stopped responding on my emails. He is not the person to get you house inspected"

"I used Heartland Home Inspections on my first home ever bought. Not only did the owner do a thorough and precise job, but he explained the entire home inspection process with my fiancé and I. He talked us through everything he inspected and broke down any issues he saw step by step with us. We were extremely happy with this entire experience, and they made the very stressful process of buying a home that much easier for us. His attention to detail and professionalism made me feel that much more comfortable with the entire inspection. HIGHLY recommend."

"We used Russ and his company to help with continued water issues in our basement. His extended knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to help was outstanding. His crew was equally as good as they were diligent in following his instructions and making the necessary adjustments in a timely manner. He and they never made us feel as if this was just another job for them but rather that it presented a challenge that they were more than willing to take on and resolve. Great outstanding customer service and appreciation. Highly recommend him and his company to anyone having issues. For this man it is about integrity respect and honor for the service he provides and his clients."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Bridgewater, NJ

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
