"I did not know who to call and was a little apprehensive as I did not have anyone I felt I could trust. As a single woman (64), I am always concerned about any sort of service work and if the company is being honest. I found Drain Surgeon on Angie's list with 2 very good reviews and one from a couple of years ago that was not so good, but I decided to try them. They are located close to my home and agreed to call me at my office 15 min. before they would get to my house as I told them that is how long it would take me to get home. We both arrived at almost the exact same time and Tony and Nick were the 2 service techs that came. They were very polite, friendly and very respectful. I was comfortable with them and they did a great job and got the drain cleared with some sort of electric auger within about 15 minutes. They had accidentally broken a small piece of PVC pipe that goes into the wall but they replaced it and told me about it so that was a pleasant surprise as that showed me they were very honest. <br /> I would highly recommend them and will use them for any future plumbing issues I may have. <br />"

"Hired Water Works Services to remove an old water softener and replace the coper piping. They were recommended by Home Advisor. They showed up on time, did the work quickly and the work looks great. Then after using the water it was determined that the water pressure was low, most noticeable of the 2nd floor. Contacted Water Works Services and after texting them back and forth, I figured out that the hot water pressure was low. The Plummer indicated that they had turned off the hot water shutoff valve while they were working on the water main piping. I turned the valve to open it up and it just kept spinning. This indicated that the valve was broken, it would not close or open, it was stuck in the middle somewhere. Water Works Services came back out and fixed the valve for no charge. They stood by their work which was a nice surprise."

"Poorly. His hired help was incompetent and screwed things up repeatedly which caused floods and leaks. He did not properly instruct his hired help, who made repeated mistakes, so that was on him. He improperly installed numerous fixtures and pipes. He did not adhere to code. The St. Joseph County plumbing inspector found flaws with his job instantly. We found some of those flaws and pointed them out to him, but he refused to fix them. When the inspector contacted him, he sent a false invoice to us (presumably out of spite/rage). Do not hire him."

"Arrived at house within 3 hours of calling them which is what I needed. I've used them 4-5 times in past 2 or 3 years. They are the only ones that can come out same day as calling them and usually within a few hours. Because of that their price is probably a little higher than others but when it's an emergency it's worth it. Just like the Emergency room is more than the walk in clinic."

"It went great. This was my first time having to call someone to my house, and I was nervous about the experience. They were professional, quick and willing to explain everything they were doing <br /> When they arrived, they asked a few questions and got right to work. The drain specialists came up a few times to explain where they were in the process, asking permission to walk through the house and access the bathrooms as needed (for doing the work, not using). The plumber was friendly, making small talk but always with his focus on the task at hand. I had a few "extra" questions that I thought might be related, and he was quick to answer. <br /> I have had to call Bob Frame a few times since (for different problems) and had the same positive experience (though one time, I'm pretty sure that the plumber was just looking for things to do b/c he fixed the problem in about 20 minutes when he had expected two hours of work...this was annoying, since I was paying for the additional 1.6 hours, but he did give me some useful suggestions). <br />"

"Work is done. I now have a floor to ceiling hole in my laundry room. They can't do that prepare and said I would have to have a dry waller. While pounding the pipes the knocked a picture off the wall and shattered the glass. Found after they left. Wanted them to come back and install a garbage disposal, but have been playing phone tag with them since Thurs. Gary did return my call while I was out and told me he would call between 8 and 9 the following morning. Still not heard from him. I did call and left a message but so far no return"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bristol, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
