"The plumber showed up in the morning, on time, took his shoes off, and took perhaps an hour to finish the job. When we asked how much we owed him, he said we would receive a bill. I waited with baited breath for the bill to arrive, hoping it would not be outrageous. I was pleasantly surprised: it came to a grand total of $108.78. Quite fair and reasonable, I thought. Of that total, labor was $89, trip charge $9.95, and materials $9.83."

"We have a rental near home in Two Harbors. We have a renter coming in on Monday ? this is Friday. The bathroom sink and tub drains were draining very slowly-or not at all. We did what we could but they were still draining slowly. I looked at Angies list reviews and decided to call Midway. They came out within an hour and apparently did a great job. I'm not sure if $146 is a great price or not ? we have never had this done before. But they came right out and got the job done ? what else can we ask for? Thanks, Angie's list! <br />"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"<p>They also got all of the approvals from the city to do the lining of the pipe under the street so that I would not have to pay for digging up the road. </p> <p>They finished with landscaping the yard, doing some patio preparation work, doing some driveway work in the back yard, and generally getting my mess all fixed up!  I was appreciative of their good work.</p> <p>If I had sewer issues again (heaven forbid!) I would hire them.  Yes, they were expensive, but considering they solved a major structural problem for my house, I'm grateful.</p> <br />"

"Due to age of existing unit, we were convinced to purchase new instead of repair existing. Total cost for a new unit was over $2,000. High end unit might be approx. $900-$1000. This means approx. $1000 labor for a couple hours work. Also, initial service fee for diagnosis is separate and not credited towards repair. Because we had no hot water, felt pressured to agree to proposed repair. In hind sight, for the same price, I wonder if I could have had a tankless system installed - something I've long wanted. Work was professional and courteous. I just wish I had more options. Also, wife felt overly pressured after the initial service call. This may have been professional courtesy, but was perceived as "pushy" and leading to mistrust. They did return the following day (or two) later to fix a very strange ancillary problem (at no additional charge) that arose after the water heater replacement. Overall, mixed feelings for friendly, professional service that I believe was more expensive than expected and customer service skills that did not respect the fears of the customer. Two main reasons for selecting Summit is because of my prior bad experience with "other" main competitor in town and because Summit had a good reputation on Angie's List."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Britt, MN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
