"I met with Gary in October to discuss adding a granite cap to my outdoor fire pit. The original fire pit stone and mortar had deteriorated. Gary was able to work with a stone quarry and have them create a round sold granite cap to go over the existing stone. The granite was delivered and placed on top of the pit today as he had to drive a truck across my lawn and we wanted to be sure the ground was frozen. He will return in the spring to finish the work by applying mortar under the granite and he will also do some stone wall repair at that time. While this project has been long and slow, Gary always quickly responded to my text and phone messages. The cost was more than I would like, but material costs are very high everywhere right now. I will definitely work with Gary again."

"Hired Shamrock Construction to inspect our chimney. Peter indicated what needed to be done, options, and pricing. He re-pointed mortar, fixed top course of brick, sealed outside of chimney, replaced flashing. He discovered termites along one section of foundation and excavated around remaining perimeter of house to check for other termites/bugs; treated as required.  Peter has been in the construction business for 23 years and is technically knowledgeable.  He has a keen eye for areas that may have problems; investigated areas of concern, and showed what needed to be done. "Eddie and Simon were fantastic. They did beautiful work; they did it when they said they would; and they finished promptly and did a good job keeping us informed of their work status. They did a great job of melding their new stone and brick work into the existing adjacent brick work. What especially impressed us was that we have a lot of plantings near the house, and we assumed they would get destroyed to complete the repointing of our foundation. But Eddie and Simon worked carefully around our plantings, and after they were done you could hardly tell the gardens had been disturbed at all. As we negotiated the deal with them, they gave us good references - including addresses of places they had already done similar jobs. They are not big into paperwork or contracts, which can feel risky. But we documented everything in email exchanges, and they performed exactly what we had discussed."

"Kevin and his assistant arrived on time and were pleasant.  They inspected the chimney from top and bottom, took pictures and showed me where I had some brick damage at the top and gave suggestions but did not pressure me to have it fixed by them immediately.  They proceeded to clean the chimney - they were respectful of my belongings and didn't leave any trace of a mess when they left.  I also had Kevin take a quick peek at a gas heater/stove that I had trouble lighting.  He took the extra 5 minutes to help with that which was appreciated.  
The only things that could have bettered the score and my experience were if he had provided me with a receipt including detail of work performed when completed.  I had to follow up a couple times to receive an official receipt with the pictures he took of my chimney.  I like to have those items for my home repair/work records.  Lastly, he quoted me $115 on the phone, $120 was what he told me after service was complete.  When I wrote out the check, I didn't remember his quote  but when I referred back to my notes from when I scheduled the appointment I saw $115. Not a huge difference but it seems like quotes are sort of "off the cuff".  Overall I was happy with the services provided and would use them again.
