"Work that is done without any issues are easy reviews to write. However in this case we ran into a major issue where the stain used on the garage doors did not match the existing front door as was a requirement. (Not even close). We addressed the issue with Rick and he agreed there was a problem. He sanded the doors, completely removing the stain and started over with the correct stain.
As stated before, projects that go off without a hitch are easy reviews, but when you do run into a problem, how that service provider addresses the issue speaks well of their overall commitment to their profession. Rick handled the issue well and did whatever it took to make us happy. This could have been catastrophic but in the end we love our new garage doors."

"Guys did a great job as promised. Took advantage of a $999 special; an additional $300 for extra exterior door painting. Approximately $1000 in paint necessary but we chose top quality paint in lieu of having Better Choice select paint. House was power washed and some trim replaced prior to painting. Some delays due to the high temperatures we experienced that pushed out the job a couple of times.

"The company spokesperson contacted me by telephone and asked for photos 3 days after my purchase. I sent the photos to her email with details and closeups of the rotten parts. After another 3-4 days she sent back an email with circles around the parts. I replied again that the portions circled were indeed needing attention. A week went by and finally (3 weeks) an email stating that I should purchase lumber with some incorrect sizes of boards included. I responded the next day with correct measurements and photos to accompany them. More time passed and finally a date was set. (11 emails, 15 messages on Angie's list) Each and every time when I sent an email I suggested that the company send someone out before purchasing lumber to be certain the correct sizes were purchased.
The date came and the technician arrived on time and (to my surprise) with lumber in his truck. He looked over the area and began work immediately. I did not supervise during the repair. He was friendly but quiet (I suspect his English language skills are poor) and cleaned up after himself. After he left I noticed that insead of a whole piece of lumber that three areas of new wood had been pieced. The one concerning me the most is very visible and the horozontal bottom piece is 1" wide X 24.5" long pieced onto a larger piece, instead of one correct board 6.5" wide. Here is what I wrote correcting the company 2 weeks before the repairs:
- You wrote:Hello
1. The upright beams on either side of door are 80" tall, 3.5" wide and 2" thick. Only the right side's base is rotten.
2. On the Left outside corner the entire beam is more than 11' but about 3' of a 2 x 4 piece could replace the rotten area plus another foot or so of a similar piece (atop the cement step) on the inside. At the base of the inside (atop the cement and adjacent to those) corner measurements are 2" thick x 6.5" thick x 24.5" long.
I would be happy for your technicians to purchase appropriate materials plus base paint after verifying what's needed since no one wants to purchase the incorrect materials or waste any time on this small project.

3 pc of 2-by-6 wood
1 pc of 2-by-4 wood
Please let me know whether you'd like to provide them or would like us to bring provide it for you and you would reimburse us for the purchased items.
Best,
Olga- After the repair I sent an email with my concerns. I have been told that the company will only consider painting with primer and that "That particular part will not be shown as two pieces attached when you pain it." Unfortunately this is NOT true since I immediately primed the new area because of the weather forecast for rain. The company also claims that the workman did "more" than I originally stated. This is also untrue.

"Annual service performed. In the past, there have been repairs that became known during the preventative service. Today there were none. Also, previously malfunctioning parts were almost always under warranty. When new parts are installed, they make sure I understand what the parts and service warranties are.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
