"<p>Appeared to be the original well pump (1959).  Fitting broke connecting pipe to pump located 185' in well casing.  The crew was very knowledgeable in their work.  Since I stayed around expecting the worse, seeing them work with such confidence sure made me feel better from the time they made their first cut of the existing well casing, to pulling the existing pump up and out to the ground.  Cheeseman has a Top Notch group of employees and some of the best I've seen in my 30+ years myself in the construction industry.  Thanks for the quick response and an all around professional job.</p> <br />"

"<p>Some red flags were raised (and perhaps should have been heeded) when initial planning SCHEDULED appointments were not met on time and even (admittedly) "forgotten."  </p> <p>Later, when some of the work done was "questioned," things like "...it's just not done that way..." were offered (hint: perhaps it should be done the way the payer WANTS it...!!?).  </p> <p>Riverside Construction acts as a general contractor.  They only do the design, demolition, some final trim, and painting.  The rest of the work is done by hired "partners." The quality of work done by these varies, BUT in their defense, it falls on the general contractor to determine "how it's done" (as, apparently they are well-versed here...?).</p> <p>The design, electrical, plumbing and drywall work was done in an EXCELLENT manner.  The installation of appliances in the kitchen (by Clark of Indy) was also done VERY well (but here again, the SCHEDULING of it was screwed up by Riverside and delayed by several days). </p> <p>So what were the problems?  I basically had to refinish the flooring myself.  The flooring we wanted was the original hardwood floor, which only had to be refinished in the dining room, but in the kitchen had been covered by nailed plywood and carpeted, and later linoleum-tiled.  We LIKED the "stressed" look we'd get after uncovering it, if properly sealed and refinished (which was not done... I had to do it myself).   </p> <p>Quite a bit of the uncovered kitchen flooring had to be taken up and re-nailed.  When this was done, no vapor barrier was installed over the subfloor, and larger "chips" were not puttied/sealed, so you could see light from the basement through them (!).  The cabinets in the kitchen were installed over only subfloor, with not even a plywood cover (nor vapor barrier, as mentioned above). </p> <p>The quartz kitchen counter was installed so there was a considerable gap between it and the refrigerator (because the upper cabinets wouldn't allow the refrigerator any closer).  It was pointed out that perhaps a same-material "lip" should be added to the counter, to not allow crumbs or small items to roll off and fall onto the floor between the lower cabinets and the refrigerator.  This was TOTALLY ignored, so we had no recourse but to contact the counter people directly to remedy the situation.  When Riverside was asked to cover the cost of this repair, they agreed, but with MARKED reluctance.     </p> <p>Reluctance was also displayed and sensed when it had to be demanded that some final clean-up be done.</p> <p>MUCH of the finishing puttying was done quite poorly, and is still either not done or had to be redone.</p> <p>We paid "top-tier" pricing for the remodeling of two rooms.  These are VERY small rooms (~10X12...?).  In the kitchen, the cabinets chosen were less than "top-tier" quality (although they were what we wanted).  No price adjustment was offered.  We had to demand the promised pull-out drawers, as they were installing "stationary" ones in the pantry. </p> <p>Riverside ALWAYS received their installment payments IN FULL AND ON TIME, when demanded.  </p> <p>It is generally felt we GREATLY overpaid for the work done, and we were "dropped" to a great extent when we demanded the kind of attention we thought we were buying.  </p> <p>A "before-and-after" book promised after the work was deemed complete never materialized nor was delivered.  Figures....</p>"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Buck-creek, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
