"Same day service - within 4 hours of calling. Super professional on all fronts. Went above and beyond checking the panel itself on top of the switch and wiring repairs. Overall excellent and timely service."

"They installed an EV plug in the garage. They came the next day after I approved the price. They were in and out in an hour. The car charged overnight with no issues."

"Once I called, they quickly sent someone out to give me an estimate. They answered all my questions and informed me of how they would tackle the work. The estimate I received was nearly 1/3 less than a competitors work, and I liked that they would not be running any wires outside my house. The most "damage" there would be would be a small hole in my dining room ceiling to run wire up to an outlet upstairs. It took about 3 weeks, to get the job scheduled, but all along the company was informative (they were going to be a little later than anticipated the day of the work) and professional. The technician Joseph G and his assistant were amazing! Again, answering any questions I had the day of and the best part is, they didn't even need to make a whole in the ceiling. These electrical magicians were able to run the wire up and through the wall to the upstairs outlet. Needless to say, I would hire CW Electrical again in a heartbeat."

"I was looking for a great deal on upgrading my electrical service. I found a  coupon for an electrical upgrade and thought it sounded perfect, but after talking to the provider I learned this is just for a circuit breaker box upgrade, and my home needs a whole service upgrade. They then quoted me what the difference would be with the coupon applied to that ($2000 + coupon value).  They were very professional and helpful over the phone, but the actual outcome was more expensive than what I was expecting so I decided to pass."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Butler, PA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
