"Aaron showed us some carpet in the shop and gave good advice on various carpet types. We arranged for him to come to the house to measure up and quote us a price. Unlike the big home improvement stores the estimate was free. The two installers came on time and did an excellent job. We had already removed the old carpet ourselves so that I could remedy some squeeks in the floor before the new carpet was laid. Removing the carpet and disposing of it ourselves saved about $150. Altogether it took about 4 hours for the install. The price was good. We had a previous quote for a similar carpet for about $400 more."

"It went so well in removing stains with Ron that we have decided to have Smith-Mathis take over "all" our carpet cleaning and stain removal needs because of the great work ethic, people skills, and technical expertise that Ron Butler brings into a home. He's very very good at what he does. We want him back whenever it's needed. Thanks you Smith-Mathis!"

"It went great. I've actually been using Ross once a month for the last 4 months, due to the new puppy in our house! Ross does a great job each time and although I don't have a lot of carpet, it's so nice to have it cleaned and know that Ross will do a great job every time. I'm sure he is annoyed coming to my hosue each month! I"m getting used to these nice clean carpets once a month! <br />"

"We were replacing worn vinyl in our kitchen and entryway.   It is a large area, and the job  took parts of two days.  The workers did a wonderful job, and we are so pleased with the results.   Working with this company was a dream.  They showed up on time, did great work, cleaned everything up, and  moved the appliances for us.  Rick Short stopped by both days to check on the progress, and to ask us if there was anything more they could do for us.  If we replace any other flooring in our house, we will definitely use Rick Short Flooring again.  Cheryl in the office was also a great help when we were choosing the floor material.  I would probably have chosen a much darker floor, but because my kitchen does not get much light, she recommended we use a lighter shade.   She was absolutely correct!!  The floor we installed is perfect."

"They told us at our initial sit down that they would be sending a team out to our house to complete this install. The team was one person. Seemed like he would go in between different jobs along with ours. Only a few days were spent totally at our house. This is what dragged the install out. Nothing against the person that installed it the company needs to put more hands on deck. Had issues with stair steps breaking. Then they repair stair with warped board. Still currently waiting to get the stair corrected. We feel they were quick to take money but slow on fixing the issues. Photo attached is the warped board they placed on the stairs."

"Rick arrived on time and went to work. He was done in 1 horu and 15 minutes. The carpet looks great. He spot-cleaned a few areas before cleaning. I like PHD the best because they are reliable and do not try to sell you carpet sanitizer, protectants, etc. They do not move the furniture but this allows them to do more carpet, one tech, at a cheaper price and you don't have to move all the items on top of furniture for them to clean. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Camby, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
