"Max showed up on time. He worked quickly but job took over 3 hours to figure out problem with several outlets not working and a bad switch and unusual wiring in 1 of the outlets and to replace the faulty switch and a failed circuit breaker on the panel (the cause of the outlets not working) including a trip to HD to buy a new circuit breaker. On his recommendation we had him also replace 2 38 year old switches and the affected 38 year old outlets. He listened carefully to our description of the problem and explained his work and answered all our questions. The total bill was $378 which we felt was a fair price. We will definitely call him for any future electrical work."

"They did a lot for us in a very short period of time. It’s been three months and everything still works perfectly. They are professional, knowledgable, and courteous. They did wiring, upgraded boxes, troubleshooted outlets that weren’t working, and fixed work that was previously done incorrectly by a discount provider. We will be bringing them back for future project and any needs that might arise."

"Where other companies just assumed a generic installation, Walter Electric spent a lot of time planning a customized arrangement that worked best for our particular layout. They gave more options and suggestions, and it made all the difference in the end. I would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about lighting installation!"

"I got a few estimates to get more power out to my studio. Everyone quoted me about 4K to upgrade my panel and get dedicated line out to my studion. These guys were to only ones that looked for a better/more economical solution. I sent a pic of my panel and he remembered that I upgraded my kitchen a while back but noticed that my electric stove had it's own dedicated line. He asked me, did you convert to gas when you remodeled? I said yes and he said, great, we take the line that was dedicated to the stove and we use that. It saved me $1500 and it worked perfectly. I would absolutely hire again!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Camp Pendleton, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
