"It has been over a month ago and the connection seems to working . After being disappointed and overcharged by another plumber who installed, but misplaced four shut-off valves; I decided to install the sink myself. Due to the poor placement of shutoff valves by the previous plumber, I was advised by a local plumbing supply employee to proceed in a way in which I was not comfortable; so I called White Plumbing. When Dave, the plumber from Dan White's Plumbing arrived, I explained the situation, he said that I already did the hard part and concurred that the other plumber's mistake had made the connection more difficult. Dave quickly, got to work , assembling the pipes in a similar way suggested in an illustration that I had drawn, earlier. Dave finished the task in a timely manner ; in addition, gave me a suggestion of how to keep my plumbing healthy in the future. My only disappointment was that although, I had bought all the materials for completing the job at a local plumbing supply company ; he charged me for seemingly, the same ones that he installed."

"After 40 years of use, the main bathroom in our raised ranch house needed remodeling and a complete overhaul.  Espenshades Plumbing had previously remodeled and upgraded the master bath in this house several years prior.  Because of their excellent performance and track record, we contracted with them again and without fail they did another superb job.  Overall, this project went smoothly without any major faults or delays; they were the first people in onsite and the last ones out when the project was completed.  After the design plans were set, all selected material and new bathroom fixtures were ordered and received prior to the project start date.  Espenshades Plumbing managed the entire project: assisted in design planning, ordered and purchased all the material and bath fixtures (faucets, shower unit assemblies, grab bars, glass doors, toilet etc.); They coordinated the work schedule for the painter and the tiling workmen company so  that there were no gaps in the daily work schedule. On site they performed all the plumbing readiness tasks, did electrical work and installed all the new bathroom fixtures and new lighting we wanted.  Workmanship was superior; carpets in the main part of the house were covered to avoid tracking dirt from outside the house, work area was clean and organized each day at quitting time, curtain was hung in bathroom door way to minimize dirt/dust extending to other part of the house.  <br /> The old fiber glass shower stall was taken out and the area was converted to a walk-in shower stall. The floor, walls and ceiling were framed and made ready for ceramic tile.  Their master plumber began by taking out the old shower stall and fixtures, cutting/installing the cement board for tiling, built the frame for the shower door threshold, installed the lining for the floor drain, built the frame for the shower bench seat, upgraded the drain plumbing to 2 inch PCV pipe to the main outlet in the basement, added wall studs support beams for grab bars.  Espenshades installed eyeball lights in the shower ceiling and wiring which connected to separate dimmer switches; previous work they installed a bathroom exhaust fan. The above phase one took approx. four days to complete.  Once this work was completed the shower and bathroom area was ready for phase two; that being, ceramic tile installation for the shower walls, floor and ceiling of the shower area and tiling the four bathroom walls for the tiling company workmen to perform their work.  Once the tile and floor covering work was completed, Espenshades master plumber returned for phase three;  to install and connect plumbing fixtures, install internal shelves, grab bars, the shower glass door frame needed to complete the project and ready the shower for daily use.  <br /> I would highly recommend Espensahes to anyone who needs plumbing related services big or small, especially bathroom remakes and upgrades.  More impressive is that they help with design ideas an procure fixtures on your behalf.  They provide a project estimate in sufficient detail to  know the total coast of  labor, and materials.  When the project is complete they provided a invoice that includes a detailed list of all on site man hours involved and a itemized list of all materials and supplies that were used in the project work for your review and compare to the approved estimate.  Project price which included cost of selected bathroom fixtures and projected man hours was acceptable, indeed very reasonable for the high quality of work and the superior workmanship.  You will certainly be pleased and totally satisfied when you select Espenshade's for your plumbing needs. <br /> <br />"

"Our heat pump just wasn't cooling the house in the 90+ degree weather we were having.  I noticed ice on the inside coils. I called the installer, Handyside Plumbing & HVAC. They went out of their way to schedule to get us a technician to look at it the same day. My wife had just had surgery & my 87 year old Mother-in-law lived with us so I wanted it fixed fast.  The technician found a coolant leak and when he touched the fitting it broke and filled my basemen with coolant.  The technician went into high gear to help me clear the gas out of the basement & find me a replacement part.  The only coils he could find were in Allentown (75 miles) and couldn't be delivered till Friday afternoon.  That particular technician had a full schedule on Friday & was leaving for vacation Saturday. No one else was available until sometime next week.  I said what if I drove to Allentown & picked up the part.  He said that if I was willing to do that he would come back on his own that evening and install it.  In addition he would come over the next morning before his regular shift to charge it.  So I tool off for Allentown and true to his word, when I got back he came over & installed it.  At 6:30 the next morning he showed up to recharge the unit. <br /> This is the kind of service I have received in the past from Handyside and continue to receive.  Brian, the owner, and his crew have not only an outstanding work ethic, but are some of the most courteous, competent  technicians I have come across. <br /> If you are looking for great work at a fair price - look no further.  I certainly won't! <br />"

"The installers were professional and more than courteous. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn't home when they arrived. But they waited patiently and were as polite as ever when I finally got there. They were careful and the installation looks great. They removed all the moldy vents, as well. They'll be back in 2 weeks to clean the ducts. I couldn't have been happier with Sam or the installers."

"Dave Griffin worked around my schedule, which continually changes. He was flexible and fit me in between his other appointments to get work done sooner than originally planned. His prices were reasonable and right on with the estimate that he provided. I checked reviews for the products he suggested, and the reviews were better than satisfactory. He uses quality merchandise. Because of his busy schedule, I had to call him several times to remind him to keep looking for an outdated and no longer manufactured part. He never made me feel like I was badgering him when I reminded him but thanked me for the reminder. He was looking for this part as a favor to me because I wanted to keep my current fixtures and not spend $500 for a new one-this was at his suggestion-he is always trying to save me money! He uses his sons for labor which, I am sure, is part of what keeps my costs down. They work together well, professionally and with respect for one another. When we had a sewer backup, he was there very promptly the same day. Removing our iron pipe was a big job and a huge pain, but he never complained and kept our cost in line with the estimate."

"They came out and gave us one of 3 estimates. We chose them because of the good price and 10 year parts and labor warranty. <br /> They set up a time and did the work in 2 days. After the first day I realized they removed our original humidifier and hepa filter. We called and left a message. The next morning they returned with both items and reinstalled them. They were very friendly and professional. We have since called with a plumbing problem in our bathroom and again they did an excellent job repairing a badly installed pipe from a previous company. I feel we have found our go-to plumbing and heating company. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Carlisle, PA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
