"I hired Basnett Construction to remodel my kitchen, and living room areas. They reviewed my draft plans and prepared a more formal set of plans that was submitted to the city for a permit. The project from start to finish took about six months to complete. I was quite pleased with Basnett Construction's professionalism, meticulousness, attention to detail especially in kitchen cabinet, island and new interior door installations, their efficiency, and their ability to be flexible with me in my decision making during the build process. In sum, I'd highly recommend Basnett Construction for remodeling kitchens and other similar projects. They will get the job done "right to your preferences." "

"They were pretty good. I'm thinking of getting that one. The problem is we live in a homeowner's association and I didn't submit the bid in the day even though the contractor came out and told me that they did install patio covers in here. I talked to the property manager; he's in charge of the homeowner's association. He said he doesn't think they'll put a patio wood cover, aluminum wood cover in here but even though I think I've seen them. But I might try to do it again, and we're in the process of getting pavers in and we're running into a problem because we've got a gas line that we have to ... that's underneath the gas line from the house, and we've got to figure out what that is, and then we're going to put an oven out there so we've got to figure out how to get a plumber to install the sink line to the sewer, and then we have to figure out where to put it. I didn't have them do anything yet. They gave me a price of about $8000. I thought it'd be more. They came out right away. I was talking to the owner beforehand. I asked him if he would do a wood cover because I'd seen what we could get and he said they don't do wood covers because he takes a lot of wood covers down. He said the aluminum wood is better. I agree, he convinced me, but I don't know that the homeowner's association would go for it. It'd probably be better because we had a lattice at another place and we had not termites, but we had rot, wood rot on the bottom of it we had to get fixed.. They came out when they said they were going to come out. The owner didn't come out; somebody else came out. I would tell a friend to give them a call, but I would tell them that if you live in a homeowner's association you have to check with the board, because we didn't submit it yet because what happens is it's like a catch-22. When you submit it you have to do it within a few months or six months or something like that, so we don't know if we're going to do that and then if they said ok ...but what happens is that ... and then we're going to do pavers. We have just enough money to do one thing at a time, once this year. And what happens is we have wood patio covers we want to match ... we have a tile roof and we'll want to match that and that's like $20,000."

"On December 18, <br /> 2015, I paid the down payment ($1,000.00), in person, for my patio installation.  At the time of payment, Laura stated that the <br /> installer, Mario, would be coming to my home, on December 21, 2015, to inspect the <br /> area where the patio will be installed; Mario did not show-up or call. <br /> On January 2, <br /> 2016, Mario called me at ~2:30 p.m., and asked me if I will be available at 3:45 <br /> p.m. for a same-day inspection; ?I said yes!? When Mario arrived at my home, he <br /> did the walk-through inspection of the area where my patio will be <br /> installed.  He was a nice guy, who <br /> understood our needs, and he was very knowledge about the installation process.  On this date, I paid my second payment, to <br /> Mario, of $6,000.00 (materials and walk-through fees).  On January 4, I called Laura and asked her to <br /> email me a receipt for the $6,000.00 payment; on January 6, 2016, I received <br /> the receipt. <br />  On January 4, during <br /> my conversation with Laura, I asked her confirm the new date that my patio <br /> would be installed, she stated that she would contact Mario and ask him to call <br /> me to confirm a new date for my patio installation.  Mario called me and stated that he would <br /> install my patio on January 11 through 12, 2016, providing it does not rain; it <br /> did rain. He stated that if it does rain, he would do the installation on <br /> January 15 and 16, 2016, but Mario was a no-show ? there was no call to let us <br /> know that he would not do the installation on the aforementioned dates. <br />  On January 15, I <br /> called Mario to learn the status of our patio installation; he said that he would <br /> arrive for installation on Monday, January 18, 2016, between 9:00 a.m. and <br /> 11:00 a.m.  Mario and his team showed up, <br /> on this date, at ~9:45 a.m., and started our patio installation. <br /> Ultimately, <br /> Mario and his team did an excellent job on our patio.  It looks great!   <br />"

"Awsome, Highly recommended! Professional, fair pricing, responsive, good communications, reliable, on schedule, dependable, trustworthy, honest, fast, efficient, above and beyond. We hired Mark to demolish and clean up a large dilapidated wood structure on the back of our property. Mark delivered everything as promised: from showing up on time to the initial appointment, to starting the job on schedule, demolishing and cleaning up, finishing quickly, and even doing some extra cleanup. He also found my weird sense of humor funny! What else can you ask for?"

"We recently added a full master suite and a new retaining wall at ground level of our existing home. We interviewed several contractors and decided on Shenon Construction to build our addition. Tom Shenon is the principal owner and licensed general contractor of Shenon Construction. The estimated costs were reasonable and within our budget, and Tom worked with us to keep our costs down without sacrificing quality. More importantly, we felt a connection to Tom Shenon, as he is sincere and honest, but knowledgeable and professional in his approach to our needs. The work is now complete, and we are entirely pleased with the outcome of our new addition. Needless to say, the process of adding nearly 400 square feet to a structure, especially in Southern California, is a very complicated and detailed endeavor. There are many strict building and environmental regulations and permitting requirements set forth by numerous governmental entities, as well as homeowners association requirements that we had to navigate. The difficulty of getting through architectural planning, engineering, and city permitting was compounded during the COVID pandemic, but Tom and his design/architectural/engineering team did an excellent job to design our project and guide us through the processes and procedures necessary to complete the process timely and thoroughly. He is a competent contractor and knowledgeable in his field. He allowed us to select and purchase all owner-supplied fixtures and materials ourselves, or use his design and supplier team to obtain required items at the best prices. We used a mixture of contractor-recommended suppliers as well as obtaining our own selection of items based on our personal preferences. All of the subcontractors, project supervisors, and trade craftsmen were superb. They were courteous and respectful of our property, trustworthy, and extremely skillful in their trades. The craftmanship is amazing and resulted in a beautiful, comfortable addition. All the suppliers and subcontractors used by Shenon Construction went above and beyond to help us obtain needed items at reasonable prices in a timely manner. Based on the results of our project, we feel we definitely made the correct choice in Shenon Construction to complete our addition, and we consider Tom and all the craftsmen involved in our project to be long-term friends. We have no regrets, and we look forward to living in our lovely remodeled home."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Carpinteria, CA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
