"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

An examination of a real estate property's condition, usually performed in connection with the property's sale. A qualified home inspector can assess the condition of a property's roof, foundation, heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical work, water and sewage, and some fire and safety issues. In addition, the home inspector will look for evidence of insect, water or fire damage or any other issue that may affect the value of the property.

"Brian arrived right on time, and promptly got to work. He had actually went into the home being inspected two days before the scheduled inspection to set up radon testing equipment. He was very easy to work with and shared any problems he saw right away with me. There was a problem with the water turning on in the house after the de-winterization process and he was unable to inspect the plumbing on the scheduled inspection day. Without hesitation he said he would come back as soon as the problem was fixed, (by the seller) to check out the plumbing - at no extra charge. He kept his word and was back once the problem was fixed and gave a thorough inspection of the plumbing. He presented a detailed report of the inspection with pictures and recommendations, hand delivered, later the very same day of the original inspection. - he provided an addendum for the plumbing the same day it was completed by email. I was very pleased with Brian's professionalism and eye for detail. He is competitively priced and I was very satisfied with his service. <br />"

We are a home inspection, radon testing and thermal imaging company servicing southeastern WI called Inspect The Best WI (Lic # 3324-106). Our goal is to help you prepare your home for sale or to assist you in making the decision to purchase a house.\nWe offer InterNACHI's Buy Back program. Instead of a few dollars of warranty coverage, if I miss anything during your inspection, InterNACHI will buy the entire house back from you for the price you paid for it! That's a tough warranty to beat. Check out my website at www.inspectthebestwi.com for more details.\nAlso, as part of our home inspection process and no cost to our clients, we inventory the home's appliances and run them through a recall check system to see if any recall have been issued for those appliances. If there has been a recall notice on any of those appliances you will be contacted to set up an appointment to have those items fixed. The appliances will then be registered so in the event a recall should happen while you own the appliance, you would be notified.\nTo set us apart we use a FLIR thermal imaging camera to pinpoint problem areas before they are visible and more costly to repair. Let us use our training, building science knowledge and FLIR IR camera to help evaluate and look for issues.\n\n

"I am in the real estate business so I see a lot of different home inspections. Greg does all my personal inspections because I think he is the most thorough of any of the inspectors out there. He has home knowledge that has width and depth. His report is very comprehensive and is easy to read. The report has detailed photos that that explain the issues so there is little to any confusion. I highly recommend 4 Square Home Inspections."

"The home and water inspections went perfectly. Very thorough and nice, we couldn't have asked for a better experience!!! The Radon test, however, went a little less smooth. They did not bring it the day of the inspection. We scheduled another date for them to drop it off. They did not show up at the scheduled time. We had to call and they came out 2 hours later. We were also unclear as to why they chose to put the test where they did. We thought they were supposed to go in the basement.....?"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Sheboygan, WI

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
