"Contacted Current Electric on the recommendation of a friend who had utilized their service and was pleased with the end result. Did not check prices with other companies, so not sure how reasonable the rate was. The circuit and 2 outlets installed in the soffet on the back of home was $589 for comparison. Technician came out on a holiday to provide estimate. Was quick and thorough. Received phone call to schedule service date within ~30 minutes. Technician arrived on time the day of install and performed work very quickly. Entire experience was quick, professional, and friendly. Price matched provided estimate."

"I am working with JM Electric on a fairly extensive remodel and they have been incredible. They are working directly with Xcel and I to make sure our panel upgrade goes smoothly as it requires work with the power company. They gave a quick and concise estimate of work and have always been on time and clear with communication. The LED ceiling lights and aluminum wiring removal were done well and quickly for a fair price. Sebastian in particular has been a great help and is knowledgeable and professional, handling all of the details."

"We needed more power and Zach worked with CORE to get our new transformer installed. Great communication; very responsive. High quality work and attention to detail. He went over and above with our upgrade and install of hot tub. He even showed me how to operate the new hot tub! He is now my go-to guy for any electrical needs in the future! It doesn't get any better than this."

"I would not consider contacting this company again for drain cleaning. I received four visits from technicians and the issue was never resolved. During the last visit the Techician complained about coming out so many time and he stated he did not know how to resolve the issue. He also made a comment stating he did not care if the issue was resolved or not!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Castle Rock, CO

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
