"I highly reccommend this company for any concrete needs.  They are very professional, well-mannered, hardworking, honest and offer fair pricing.  They always ensured to clean-up before end of work day so I did not have to worry about debris loitering my yard or my neighbors' yards.  Everything that I requested that they do they did in a manor that was above and beyond my expectations while meeting pre-disscused timelines for specific tasks.  Additionally, they provided me with detailed information regarding the cost and there were no additional/hidden fees/charges.  And, unlike other providers, they were very open and willing to thoroughly explain the details of the project work.  I am a This company did a beautiful/excellent job and I will definitely use them again for any future concrete projects."

"Everything went well. The entire job was well orchestrated. The first day included demo and removal of the old slab, then they hauled in base that same morning, the form crew began installing forms and digging footings that afternoon, The second day they compacted base and finished forms then wet base to settle overnight. The third day they finished all excavation of deeper footings ( 18 inches ) and then tied steel with time to spare before concrete arrived. They were very professional in handling the pouring of the concrete and finishing out of patio slab. These guys know what they are doing. The next morning they removed the forms and cleaned up. The new slab turned out excellent. I am very satisfied with the work. ( The reason I ordered 18 inch footings and lots of re-bar is due to the fact that the soil at my house is not very stable and I did not want the patio to drift away from the house...ever. Another reason for the 18 inch footing is that I did not want the patio slab to be attached to the house slab because I didn't want to take a chance of hitting a water pipe while drilling dowel holes as there is a lot of plumbing in the house slab at that location ). I feel like this company delivered exactly what I ordered."

"I had a wheelchair access added to my home that went across my front yard and into the back where I had a deck with a ramp (approximately 120 feet). Richard at Artistic Concrete should get an award for best customer care of any business with which I have ever dealt. He returned calls promptly, was patient with the many questions, and once we got the final HOA approval, his crew got the job done quickly. My pictures don't give it justice. I came home from foot surgery and was able to get into my home."

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Castroville, TX

Whether terrazzo is better than porcelain or ceramic tiles for a kitchen or bathroom floor depends on your design preference. Terrazzo can last a long time, but so can a properly installed ceramic tile floor. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the lifespan of a ceramic tile floor is 75 to 100 years, similar to terrazzo.

You should clean terrazzo floors like you would marble, even if there’s no marble in the aggregate. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the polished surface, and steer clear of acidic cleaners like vinegar, which can damage the surface. Instead, use plain water or a neutral cleaner to mop the floor. Then, use a wet vac or squeegee to remove the dirty water. Regular buffing with a soft cloth can help you maintain the shine.

Terrazzo is made by mixing an aggregate like glass or stone with a binder like cement or epoxy. The mix is made and poured into the prepared space you designate. Alternatively, you can purchase prefabricated terrazzo tiles, which consist of similar materials. They’re poured into a mold and cured before installation.

You can add radiant heating under a terrazzo floor, which is an excellent way to combat the naturally cold surface of terrazzo floors. Installing radiant heating costs $1,653 to $6,656. You'll want to install the heating elements under the thin-set epoxy because the layer is thin enough for the warmth to conduct through the floor.

Making your own terrazzo can be a tricky DIY project. The exact mix takes a blend of art and skill to create and requires the expertise of a terrazzo pro. The wrong blend could crack, peel, or break easily, requiring expensive repairs. Finishing and polishing the floor also requires previous experience to achieve a professional appearance. Expect to pay between $200 and $2,500 for the cost of restoring and polishing floors.

Terrazzo flooring is eco-friendly because it is crafted using recycled materials such as glass, marble, and polished metal, and its epoxy binder emits no VOCs once cured. This sustainable manufacturing approach minimizes waste and supports green building practices. Homeowners gain an attractive flooring option, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and environmental conservation.
