"Famously!! Jeff Bryson is one of the most professional businessmen we have ever worked with. He was clear and exact on the direction he would take and explained it to us step by step. The people he has working for him are true artists in fulfilling our dream and Jeff’s direction. Easy to work with, consistent, courteous and responsive. The cupboards and vanity made from scratch are superb. They turned our thoughts into reality and gave us my dream!"

"Excellent, no problems. My car was new the first year I used the service and there has never been any damage during the transports. The men picking up and delivering the car have always been pleasant and cooperative. Both Ely and Guy at United Transport has been highly responsive to my needs. I would highly recommend this company."

"Great company! I am a contractor, and I have referred them for years, but I have never used them personally until now. The price was reasonable, the service was amazing and the cleanup was great. They were very thorough in their explanations of what they were doing and how they were doing it and what the warranties were. Great experience."

"Terrible. Do not trust this contractor. Substandard work throughout (collapsing bedroom ceiling after framing and drywall was applied to enlarge the bedroom), very poor quality painting, dangerous and shoddy electrical work in my attic, and the contractor failed to repair the damage his debris bin caused to my asphalt driveway. Absolutely terrible experience. Sadly, the VA Regional Office in Houston paid him in full and denied me the opportunity to contest his outright lies about the asphalt damage. I shudder to think what happens to my fellow disabled Veterans who lack the background I have in electrical work, painting, etc. when this contractor does VA funded remodeling in their homes. I’ve had to involve VA Headquarters in Washington DC on these issues. I am a longtime Veterans advocate. "Avoid... They don’t stand behind their work. Won’t fix their mistakes. First off, they did not tape anything off or cover my carpets. Dust got everywhere. I have to pay someone now to hopefully restore my carpets and will have to steam clean my tile. They put wood shins that rest on top of the cabinets directly under the granite. Because of the length of my counters they had to put 2 seams, which turned out horribly. Good seams should be not that noticeable. Obviously, they have to be there but they are not correct or professional by any means the way that MGI did them. The seams have jagged edges like they were not cut properly and the head installer in the end said he “liked” the seams, which reflects the quality (or lack of) of their work. They didn’t attach or mount my dishwasher to the underside of the granite so now it moves when I open and close it. After they left initially, my oven (my oven will now turn on but will not heat) and dishwasher wouldn’t turn on. And the dishwasher leaked from the supply line. We had to use stern language with Ali to make him come back to fix the stuff that stopped working after his install. They messed with the seams when they came back but they are still not correct. They didn’t wipe up all the epoxy so now the edge is rough at both seams. Everyone I’ve showed this to and spoken to said that this needs to be redone (rip out and replace the counters where the seams are) or the seams need blended and polished until they look right at the cost of MGI. We paid him in full since they worked all day to finish the job and now they won’t do us the same courtesy of fixing their mistakes. Sloppy, substandard and unprofessional. Don’t let their pictures fool you (they are not close up shots). I could mention other issues with the install as well..... Use these guys if you want a granite contractor who won’t work to satisfy you after you PAY them!"

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Castroville, TX

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
