"I had some broken, cracking stucco that I needed checked for underlying damage and patched in a relatively short period of time pursuant to refinancing my home.  I had contacted two other stucco contractors off of Angie's list to get bids and neither one was very responsive.  Ted Cowan from ACES/GSS was very responsive.  He came out the day we got a hold of him and gave me a bid on the spot.  He also walked me carefully through what potential issues there might be and how he would go about fixing them so there would be no further damage.  

He said he could be back within three to four days but came back the very next day to test for underlying problems, of which there weren't any, and to take out the broken stucco and put on the cement layer.  He came back a week later and finished the job.  It looks perfect. The color matches exactly.  I finally did get a bid from one of the other contractors and Ted's bid was half the cost.  I watched the repair and Ted's men did a great job.  The went to extra lengths to make sure that the patch carefully overlapped with the existing water barrier so I wouldn't have to repair this again any time soon.

I am so pleased that I am asking Ted for a bid to do stucco when I have most of the windows in my house replaced.  Based on my experience so far I'd recommend him to anyone."

"In June of this year we needed to have our 9 year old house painted, along with replacing some weather damaged trim around our windows. We hired a painting contractor who claimed to know what he was doing. Instead of replacing the trim he tried to caulk, fill, and cover up the old rotten boards. He watered down the paint and then proceeded to use one very thick coat instead of the two coats he promised. He ended up destroying our soffit and siding. He also damaged the weep holes on most of our lower level windows. We were left with a huge mess, and lost half the money we paid up front. I reached out to a full list of contractors to repair our home. Most of them were shocked at the damage that was done, but seemed to be to busy or not interested in helping us out. In comes Gray Huskie Custom Exteriors. I called and left a message with Miguel, and he called me back within less than a half hour to schedule a time to come out to our house that same evening for a bid. Miguel and his son were professional, knowledgeable, and presented us with a very fair estimate. Within three weeks they were on the job and working hard to fix our home. We were so impressed with Miguel and his crew. It was so nice to have a contractor show up on time, and always let us know ahead if there was a change in the schedule. "I needed to have some of our shingles repaired after a wind storm blew some of them off.  I also wanted a bid done for our garage roof, which is older than the house roof.  Did a great job and didn't charge me more than the Angie's Deal, which was nice. The bid for the garage was reasonable and we are determining timing for that to be done in the next year or so.  I will definitely call them again for our roofing needs and will have them do the garage roof when we are ready.

"I recently began renting my home through a management company. When the AC stopped working I had my management company contact an AC company, and they chose Expert. Expert quoted $4000 to replace the AC. I then found another AC company myself (Humphrey) for a second opinion. Humphrey was able to fix the AC simply by changing the capacitor and fuse. Expert either 1) didn't bother to even look at it because the work order was coming from a management company and figured they paid whatever, or 2) did a really poor job diagnosing the problem. Either way, neither is favorable. My lesson learned as a new landlord--always find a repair company yourself."

"They worked really diligently to complete the project in the stated time frame and did so pretty well.  They acknowledged having perhaps a few too many jobs at one time (probably everyone needed projects finished before the weather turned as we did!) to complete the job when expected which didn't pose any problems for us.  They were courteous and friendly and did a great job.  They made a concerted effort to protect newly planted flowers and bushes which they did fairly well.  Only a couple mishaps.  They cleaned up very well (stucco work can be messy).  Mike, Dr. Patch, is quiet and reserved and and Stan, Mr. Stucco Master, is talkative and gregarious.  Without reservation we'd re-hire them again and recommend them to friends.
