"We had used Rowland's before and were very satisfied then, so we left a message for Dustin, which he returned within 24 hours. We agreed on a date and he showed up at the agreed time--early, actually. He cleaned the patio, taking care to rinse off our plantings, and even cleaned the walls & gutters adjacent to the patio. He gave us some suggestions for maintaining the patio's appearance and pointed out some potential problems with the roof. Dustin is a very professional and personable young man. We can't imagine using anyone else for our exterior cleaning needs."

"Very disappointed that things didn't go well with this company at all, because I'd really looked forward to working with them and accomplishing several projects around my home. I gave 1/2 the money up front. First, they worked a few days then left to do another job. Finally came back and built a deck & pulled up carpeting, then left again. I asked for an 8x8 deck & he built a 10x10 because 'he knew I wouldn't be happy with it'. Showed up again in a few days & nailed down some shingles, and I asked if he'd found the leak in the roof. He replied that 'it wasn't easy to locate roof leaks'. We'd discussed ahead of time putting trim around the windows but he didn't do it the way we discussed; unfortunately the way he did it wasn't going to work since I was having the house painted different colors. Asked him to remove the trim & he never came back again after that. He's very defensive when questioned & will no doubt write a defensive response to this review, so you might want to take that with a grain of salt. My advice is if you hire this company, know exactly what you want them to do and monitor their work closely so that if they do something different than what you'd discussed you can get things back on track. Also ask for receipts and labor costs for each project as it's completed. Wish I had done that, because I'm not at all convinced that I got my money's worth."

"Upon uncovering a leak during a rain, I emailed Maximus Contracting through Angie's List. They were my 3rd email sent but the previous 2 had other things going on and couldn't accommodate the 1-2 day appointment I needed to prevent further leak damage. Eric (Owner) was very responsive and responded to my email quickly. Upon return call, he said he could have someone there that day. Leo arrived and immediately assessed the situation and explained the required repairs to me. Upon his call to Eric and then Eric's call to me to discuss the repair cost, I was very satisfied with the agreed-to price. Eric even had Leo caulk the vent above the garage with no increase in cost. Leo left to get materials and returned in about 20 minutes. The actual repairs took him about 1.5 hours and after cleaning up, he was there for about 3 hours. The weather looked like rain and it did rain that evening and the next day, so I am grateful to Eric for answering my email and acting promptly. I will go back to Maximus General Contracting for any future home repairs. <br />"

"I went to Angie's List online and contacted a couple of people who had high ratings to give me a quote via phone for the specific fencing I was needing. Mauricio, the owner, was extremely responsive and got back in touch with me the same day, gave me an accurate quote and we scheduled a time for him to come meet me at my home to further the discuss the project since he was, indeed, in my price range. He was here on time for our initial meet up and very detail oriented and took the time to listen to exactly what I was wanting with my new cedar fencing. Then, we scheduled the fence install for only about 1 week out and him and his team arrive on time, ready to go and had the fence completed within a half a day. The fence is straight as an arrow and looks fantastic! Exactly what I wanted it to look like and I'm so glad that I hired them to work for me. Professional, reasonably priced and perfectionists definitely sticking to their slogan of and quot;DONE RIGHT, DONE ONE TIME!and quot;! Thank you for making this project happen so successfully in such a short time and doing such a wonderful job. I appreciate your work ethic! I recommend this company to anyone looking for fencing or anything else they do as you can see a list of all of their talents on their web site. I plan to use them in the very near future possibly for hardwood flooring and maybe even a laundry room make over! They are general contractors and do just about EVERYTHING. I'm glad because they do excellent work! HIRED! Kyla Hamilton <br />"

"First Thad helped me to determine which roofing product I wanted. I thought I wanted metal, but Thad showed me that metal was too expensive and not appropriate for the pitch of my roof. We went with a lifetime guarantee energy-star-rated asphalt shingle instead. <br /> Thad presented a clear and detailed price quote. He stuck to this quote, except for extra work which was required because of damage found. He charged me for the extra work at an hourly rate. <br /> Because of the low pitch of my roof and shoddy workmanship when the house was built, Mike and Thad found extensive damage under the old shingles. There were rotten truss tails, rotten decking, and rafters that weren't nailed in place, as well as misalignment caused by one part of the house settling. The ideal solution would have been to tear off all trusses and start over, but I could not have afforded that. Mike and Thad applied their carpentry skills to anchor rafters, to shim bowed trusses, and to fasten new wood on either side of rotted trusses, cutting the new wood to just the right angle. <br /> If you are a looking for a person to do a fast and dirty roof job (say for a property you're going to sell), do not hire Thad. If you want a roof on a building that you plan to keep for a long time, then I highly recommend Thad. He is a perfectionist. He ignored no problem, but for each one either got me up on the roof to see or showed me a photo, and then described options for fixing the problem. I feel very confident that my roof is now solid and sound and will last for years. I most definitely would hire Thad again. <br /> About the snow retention system on my parents' roof, Thad put many hours of research into finding the best product. The installation happened without a hitch and the price was as quoted. <br /> <br />"

"He is top notched and very good. He did a very good job on that. The roof was very well sealed. It was top of the line with a 50-year warranty on it, which is transferrable. You get a better warranty by using one of their people whose been trained. I did a 5 or 6 months of investigation in the internet before I choose him so I would know people coming in and out of the house. I chose him. He seems to be the best in the area. I'd use him again in a flash. I got a discount because of my age. I also like him because he had some woodwork replacement done. He has carpentry ability and roofing ability. He is man of his word. It took a little time to do it because of the weather but it wasn't a big deal. I like the quality of the work and the security on it. I got a lot of it. His bid was a level of quality, his expertise and service is same as once I thought as fly by night type. He is the only one I've used in town. I'd give him really good marks. He has really good employees."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Centerville, IN

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
