"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

"Working with Higgins Construction was a great experience for our family. If questions or concerns arose throughout the project we were able to discuss those things and come to a remedy to correct the question or concern. The crew of people that they have working for them and the subcontractors they brought in were all professional and courteous. They are very fair on their pricing and when they discovered some things that would help with insulation on our home or structural issues in our soffits - they immediately had a clear explanation for their suggestion and price for that to be fixed. Our project consisted of the following: Roof, chimney rebuilt from roofline up, new garage door, siding, shutters, cupola, soffits/facia/gutters, cedar posts on porch, lighting in soffits above the garage door."

"I couldnâ t be happier with the work that Pro Custom Builders did for me. I had a piece of facia come loose and needed to be replaced. Tony was able to determine the manufacturer of the original facia based on photos and some information I provided. The facia was 17 years old and I was thrilled that he would be able to match what I had on the rest of my house. When the day came to fix the issue, he walked me through his plan to safely access the area that needed to be replaced, which was on an awkward spot of my roofline between the house and attached garage. After the work was done, he explained what he did and even mentioned a few siding issues that he noticed. It was a pleasure working with him and I will definitely be calling him for any future projects."

"I am giving my rep, Raul, a 5 star rating. I am about to take the plunge and have my house re-sided for the first time ever! My home is 116 yrs old and has only been painted several times over the original wood. However, paint no longer will fix what is happening underneath, with dry rot, aging, etc., so my only option is to have it re-sided & almost start from scratch. I met with Raul, who is "awesome", to say the least. He is knowledgeable, explains everything to a "T" and is so down-to-earth. My old "farm" house is 2 stories, plus a walk-up attic, so this would have cost me a fortune as there is a lot of "territory" to be covered. It still is going to cost me a fortune, but Raul covered every crook & cranny to cut my costs immensely to make it affordable. I am so grateful for his assistance. He made sure we were informed on the products available and didn't push us towards or try to sell us on anything we didn't want. It was important to him that we were happy and comfortable with our investment. The entire process was straightforward and relaxed while still remaining professional and detail oriented. "Roofing was fine, but when I called because of a leak 3 months after the warentee period, I was told the rate per roofer was $185 for the first hour and $98 per hour after that. No flexibility or willingness to work with me at all. The leak was not new just newly discovered. Does not matter. Legally they may be right but this attitude is not what customer service I want to have in my life. They will not get additional work from me."

We are relatively new to Minnesota, and didn't have a lot of knowledge about local contractors, but we certainly were pleased that we found Ryan and his crew! From start to finish, everything went well. We are super excited about the brand new look to our house, It was transformed from the 1980's to a modern looking home! Ryan knows what he was talking about! He gave some very helpful guidance on the color selection. His advice was spot on, because the color turned out to be exactly what we were envisioning.
