"I first asked for a quote back in February of 2024. When I received the quote I decided to wait on this project. Then we lost power for 2 days due to a storm. I then decided it was time and contacted the contractor again. He sent me an updated quote and the project was scheduled. It's now installed and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Hopefully it will be a long time before we need to use the generator because we lose our power. But we are ready when it happens. I will definitely use this company again for any electrical jobs that come up. Andrew and his crew were great."

"Jeremy helped turn my new house into my dream home. But that was no surprise for he did the same for my last house. A good guy that will walk with you through the shopping process, helping you pick the right product for you, then professionally installing it. Highly recommend."

"We felt that we should not have had to pay 210$ for service that we had no idea was needed, as the previous technicians you have sent never advised biyearly maintenance. We could have received the same service for less money from Horizon or BGE Home !"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Kirt gave us an estimate that was much more reasonable than another we had gotten so we decided to have him do the work.  We are very glad that we did!  He and Shawn were great to work with and the subcontractors that he chose were very good also.  The new front stoop was completed first and that is beautiful.  Kirt and Shawn tore out the closet and built a new header wall in a few hours which really opened up our interior space.  The front door and one of the windows presented some unexpected challenges but they were able to find solutions easily.  Building the roof over the front door was more complicated of course, and that took about a week to complete, but they kept us in the loop the entire time - telling us what they were doing and why they were doing it and asking our opinion every step of the way. They pay a lot of attention to detail. It turned out great!  We love our "new" house and we would definitely use Kirt Johnson Construction again."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Chana, IL

Because installing coax outlets involves working around existing electrical wiring and confirming proper grounding, many homeowners prefer to hire a licensed electrician. A professional completes the work safely, secures the line behind the wall, and ensures the installation meets local code, which reduces the risk of damage or future repairs.

You still need a coaxial outlet for most cable-based internet services. The modem draws its signal from a cable line that terminates at a dedicated wall jack. Once the modem is online, your Wi-Fi router can broadcast the signal throughout the home, so the outlet’s location doesn’t affect wireless performance. If an existing jack is damaged or in an inconvenient spot, an electrician can move it or install a new one to maintain a strong, reliable connection.

Coaxial cable loses signal strength the farther it runs. A 50-foot length introduces noticeable loss, and a 100-foot stretch can drop the signal by roughly 30%. A weaker signal can result in a fuzzy picture or slower internet speeds. To maintain high performance, limit cable length whenever possible, select the correct cable grade, and route it efficiently. If your layout demands an exceptionally long run, an electrician can install an inline amplifier to boost the signal and maintain picture or data quality.
