"If you are thinking of outdoor or indoor renovating and don't know where to start, Jeff helps you visualize what you want and he patiently explains the best and most affordable methods and materials to use to achieve your dream without breaking the bank. We first hired Jeff in 2015 to create stone steps and walkways. We liked the result so much we worked again with him in 2017 when we dreamed about transforming our lackluster backyard. He patiently listened to our ideas and then designed our backyard oasis for us. He created an acre sized flagstone patio that included stone walkways and stairs, raised stone flower beds and circular stone fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen area. The project came in on time, on budget and to this day has no drainage or settling issues. In 2018 we hired Jeff to complete interior renovations which included plumbing, carpentry and electrical work. He updated two bathrooms - which included a one-of-a kind custom natural indoor field stone rain shower. He also removed and installed new radiator covers and hardwood floors throughout our home. My husband was hospitalized during these renovations and Jeff's control over these projects allowed me to focus completely on that, knowing my home was in trustworthy, competent hands. Jeff is an honest, reasonably priced, skilled and experienced contractor who has a great crew working for him who stands behind his work. What more can you say to someone who is looking for a contractor."

"Nick did a great job installing our paver walkway and bluestone steps at the front porch. His knowledge was excellent in helping us make a few changes to landscape designs and pick outdoor lighting for the beds and entry area. The communication was good start to finish and we felt his work was a great value for the money. The pavers are still looking great several years later. Highly recommend this company!"

"On time with plenty of communication. Worked hard through extremely hot weather in August. A two day job took three because of the heat and this clearly communicated up front. It was very heavy work that had to be wheel barrowed so it wouldn't crack my driveway. The young men working with Dan were very respectful and hard working. Both Dan and Stephanie are skilled and professional. More than one neighbor has had them provide estimates."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Charleston, SC

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
