"Recently used Mahon Plumbing for various plumbing needs around my house. As a new homeowner you can be skeptical on what’s behind your walls or in this case pipes. Mahon did an initial sewer line inspection and called them back to swap out toilets and install natural gas in my backyard for a grill and fire table. They were professional, honest, and extremely knowledgeable about all phases of my projects. I would recommend Mahon Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs!"

"We noticed a wet spot in our ceiling and called Alexander Plumbing right up for the 5th or 6th time they have been in our house.  Alexander treated it like an emergency and got out to our house right away, like the next day.  The wax ring under the toilet in the bathroom the floor above was broken and allowing water (hopefully just water!) to escape into the subfloor.  Rather than make a minimal repair and leave, the technician identified that the problem would repeat itself because the flange was poorly placed by the original plumber too low relative to the surrounding finished floor.  He left for parts and returned soon with what he needed to make sure the chance this would reoccur was exactly zero.  Alexander Plumbing Service is not the absolute cheapest option but it's the only company I will use."

"<p>We came home from vacation and saw water damage on the laminate floors. PlumbCrazy came promptly when they said they would, and even called to say they were on their way. Get this... they diagnose the problem and give an estimate. If they don't do the work, you don't owe money. </p> <p><br /></p> <p>He started work right away and let me know how things were proceeding. He had to cut into the dead space at the corner cabinet, but this was under the sink. I was surprised how small an access hole he required. He made short work of the problem and cleaned up as if he wasn't even there.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>We had envisioned the opening of walls and costly repairs to the kitchen, but this turned out to be the best case scenario.</p> <p>We would not hesitate to recommend PlumbCrazy to anyone, and to use them again. </p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"Ryan & Wade were very prompt arriving at 7:15 am and finished the furnace and Honeywell F 50 air cleaner install by 2 pm. There were no significant issues to speak of. They took precautions to keep our home clean by wearing booties over their shoes and laying tarps from the front door to the basement. They were thorough cleaning up after themselves and left our home in the same condition it was when they arrived. They will install the Mitsubishi system when framing begins to finish our basement."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Charlestown, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
