"Jim called back within hours of me leaving a message, and insisted on coming out to take a look at the damage prior to providing an estimate.  My driveway had holes and cracks that I knew needed to be repaired, and i called 3 other companies before contacting the Asphalt Company.  One insisted i neded a new driveway without looking at it first (and quoting $3500!), the other never even called me back.  The third quoted me on the repairs, but they weren't on Angies List, so I thought i would try one more - definitely glad I did!  Jim came in at the same price as the other company, but the responsiveness and quality of work were much better.  Even after the job was done, he came back to patch up a smal hole my wife made when her heel sunk into the soft asphalt. <br /> <br /> Excellent work, great responsiveness.  Price could be better, but in all honesty, i don't have a lot of experience with asphalt work - so it seemed fair when i looked around.  Definitely cheaper than the new driveway the first company wanted to do! <br /> <br /> Would definitely recommend The Asphalt Company, and I will use them again."

This was a big project for us and Richfield Asphalt and Concrete managed this project very well and communicated with us every phase of the project. This project went according to the details we received from Mark and Tom. We are very pleased and satisfied with the result of the project. Highly recommend Richfield Asphalt and Concrete!!"

"Our appointment was scheduled within a week from the time that I made the appointment. They had to reschedule once because of rain and it also rained the night that they finally were able to do the driveway. If you are going to sealcoat your driveway, make sure no rain is in the forecast for over 24 hours."

"There were 2 phases to the process four days apart. Day 1: removed existing driveway; repaired frost block at edge of garage floor; added class 5 base material and regraded. Day 2: paved with 3" compacted MN DOT 2360 MV4 asphalt. The two different crews arrived promptly at 7AM and were finished by 9AM. Both groups were highly professional, courteous, and meticulous in their respective jobs. Excellent results and reasonably priced."

"It took awhile, likely due to year end scheduling. I accepted their bid mid Sept, the old driveway was removed in mild October, and the new asphalt was just laid today in mid November. Their price was the best quote I received from a contractor who could prove licensing and insurance and their guarantee is five times industry standard at 10 years. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional and the finished product looks marvelous. Overall, I'm very satisfied."

"The process went quickly with detail showed in every step of the process. We asked and hoped that the raising would not cause the opposite end of the sidewalk to be raised above the point where it meets the driveway. There was no guarantee it would be that way, but they worked hard to make it level and safe.  For the sidewalk to be raised 2", we didn't want a stumble step to be created and be 2" above the driveway. They were able to raise it and leave a pitch so the water would drain properly and both ends of the sidewalk were right on. <br /> This process creates an huge mess. They cleaned everything and even filled the part of the garden next to the sidewalk with some black dirt. They were prepared to handle everything and make it right. <br />"

"Modern Roadways responded immediately to my request for an estimate for the work to be completed.  The estimate arrived in the mail on or near the day promised and the work began shortly thereafter.  The crew that installed the driveway addition was very professional and meticulous in laying the asphalt.  The workmanship and attention to detail was outstanding.  After the work was completed, the owner of the company stopped by to check the work and asked about our satisfaction with the workmanship.  I have used Modern Roadways on another project which also was done extremely well.  If I had another project, I would hire them again."

"A wonderful experience. Erik came out early in April and looked at the current driveway and explained the three options for replacement (top replacement of the asphalt, removal of the rock below and complete redesign). The estimate came back in a day with his recommendation that the least expensive would be the best given that the rock below seemed to be in good shape. The crew cam on the first day late in April to remove the old surface, cut off a bit of sidewalk that we needed removed and roll and patch the rock. A couple of weeks later they came to do the asphalt paving and were done in about 2 hours. The crew was wonderful and answered the few questions that we had. They gave us the cautions about how long to stay off with everything from foot traffic to driving on the driveway to parking on it. An excellent experience and a really great price. My neighbor loved the job and hired them to do the job for them."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Chaska, MN

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
