"This is the third time I have hired U and I Decorate and as always I am amazed at what a good job Deborah does. The carpeting was taken up and wood floors were installed, repairs were made to plaster due to leaking and nail pops. I asked Deborah to decorate my bedroom around a quilt my mother had stitched for me. Her taste is wonderful and I am always happy with the results."

"I can't say enough about Nancy Alberts and her company, Moving On. I hired her on the advice of a friend from church. I was appointed Estate Administrator after the death of my father-in-law who had been in his home for over 50 years. His wife died 6 years ago and I don't think much of anything had ever been thrown out or given away. He refused to let his caregivers dispose of anything or they could have started the process. We were not able at our ages to deal with the heavy lifting, etc. She took care of everything, including advising on an individual to hold the sale in the home. I knew that the items that used to be so valuable years ago, including formal furniture, are going for pennies now - younger couples are not interested in items that have to be handled with care or polished and most want comfortable furniture, not antiques. I was very intrigued by what furniture and household items sold and what did not sell, but not surprised. It would have been very emotional for us to watch all the items in the house going out the door for pennies on the dollar, but that is the situation today and I was glad someone else could take care of that! We had a problem in the house at the very end. A carpet that covered the entire room had foam backing which stuck to the hardwood floor when it was removed - a real mess! Nancy knew someone who could come in and take care of that, too, which was a lifesaver! Her team was very respectful with the items in the house - saving personal things that we had not originally found, getting everything ready for the sale, putting out the enormous piles of trash, donating what did not sell and what was still usable to charity, and doing a final cleaning including buffing the hardwood floors. By the time her team finished, the house was move-in ready for sale. I warn everyone who hires a service like this that the items in older homes that people think are so valuable are just "stuff and dust collectors" to many in the younger generation. Do not expect to get what you think they're worth in a home estate sale! That is not the fault of Nancy and her team or the auctioneer - it is the reality today. I can't say enough about all the HARD WORK Nancy and her team did in a very hot and sticky month of August! We are forever grateful for everything they did."

"She stuck to her word with price, the time she was going to be there, etc. She organized the kitchen to where it looks better, operates more efficiently, and is user friendly. I highly recommend her."

"CI Cabinetry helped us remodel our kitchen. Jimmy, the owner, was great to work with. We told him what we wanted to do and he came up with a 3-D floor plan which was key in helping us fine tune our plan. He was very helpful, communicative and professional. His workers were also great to work with and we were glad to have them in our home. We could not be happier with the finished project. We are starting on remodeling our master bathroom and updating the vanity in one of our other bathrooms. It was an easy decision to go through CI Cabinetry again for our bathroom cabinet needs."

"The house?s final selling price was about 150% over what I <br /> initially was offered for the home before making the updates and, factoring in <br /> the investment in the updates, was still over 100% of the pre-update offers. <br /> Also, the time between my hiring Kimberly and the home?s final sale was several <br /> months less than the average time on market for nearby houses?including the <br /> time spent on upgrades. <br />   <br /> It was a delight to work with Kimberly, the little that I <br /> needed to since she operated pretty self sufficiently.  More so, she provided exceptional value to <br /> the house?s resale value and timing than I likely would have obtained had I not <br /> taken this step or, in my estimation, tried to handle it in another way. <br />   <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The services provided by the agency was exceptional. The realtor was experienced, knowledgeable, and reliable. The realtor did not rush to place my family and I in a home quickly, but considered the well-being for me and most importantly my children. When searching for a home the realtor was in constant communication of what was newly available on the market. I am forever grateful for the services offered and now I am living in my dream home!! At a very great rate!!"

"Adams Flooring did a fantastic job installing white oak flooring in my bedroom. Willing to service Kilmarnock and the team was on site every day at 8 am. The owner, Doug, was present and working most every day. Did everything right to assure a quality outcome - wood was delivered a week in advance to acclimate and at the completion of the project, the gloss didn’t quite match the rest of the home flooring. Full disclosure,I had requested the incorrect sheen, but Doug just added another coat and made things right. I enthusiastically recommend Adam’s Wood Flooring."

FAQs for home staging projects in Chesapeake, VA

Most homebuyers start their search online, browsing photos of properties. A well-staged home allows potential buyers to visualize themselves living there. Staging can make your home stand out in a competitive market by creating a great first impression both online and during in-person showings. House staging presents potential buyers with a modern look and a neutral design that allows them to imagine their own belongings in the home.

Staging costs are usually covered by either the seller or the real estate agent. Some real estate agencies include professional home staging as part of their services to enhance a property's market appeal and achieve a higher selling price. Other times, the homeowner is motivated to hire a professional stager to maximize their home’s sale price.
