"Overall, the experience with Charles Moon Plumbing was excellent.  I called them because of their good reviews on Angies List, and they are a local business.  Carl returned every phone call, was always on time, explained all the work  that needed done and the cost, was flexible with other workmen, was professional and friendly.  Our home is old, built in the 1920's so Carl had some issues to deal with that you can find in an old home. He was able to handle these issues and find a solution.  We appreciated his work ethic and workmanship.  We will definitely be using Charles Moon Plumbing again in the future.

"The work was completed quickly and successfully. My issue is with the pricing and the sales tactics. The technician initially said it would cost $439 to clear a drain, then said there was a $50 coupon that he d apply that takes it down to $389. To clear a drain!? So when I said no, he called his manager and got last months discount of $199. In the meantime he also informed us that he was a professional. In the end, we paid the $199 and it took him about 20 minutes to clear the drain. That's $600 / hour - pretty good return. I'm a professional too, but have never been billed at even $200 per hour. If he had just started at the $199, I probably would be writing a 4.5 star review. To me, even $199 is high to clear a drain, but it's probably consistent with other local companies. And I wouldn't have felt that I needed to negotiate to get a reasonable price."

"It went well. Bob Steck the representative was very knowledgeable and responsive and won my trust immediately. I would give the job an A all around except for one disappointment. The crew, who were genial and polite, thought they were finished when I pointed out that no wall patching had been done even though it was in the contract. This brought on some grumbling which, though understandable, I did not appreciate. They patched the wall as required but I suspect they did this more hastily than they might have otherwise. When I came back I found that the clean-out valve, exit pipe, soil pipe and window sill were covered in cement splotches. This is an aesthetic quibble but it soured a job otherwise well-done. I think if they had taken just a little more time on the wall and to clean up, I would have been perfectly satisfied. It hasn't rained since the installation, but the French drain itself looks good to go. I would recommend them."

"Horizon quickly sent a truck with Chris, their plumber, to clear my clogged main sewer. Although we were unable to find my sewer pipe on the street, Chris removed the toilet, found the apparent problem and fixed it. Thank-you all for your dedication and prompt service."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Cheswold, DE

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
