"Shawn and his entire team were friendly, polite and took great care to keep our home clean and with little inconvenience during the project of drain tiling and installing a sump pump in our basement. They also fixed a crack in the wall that was discovered after the estimate was created."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired a plumber through HomeAdvisor using prepay but I would not recommend this service. The contractor left a leaky pipe that caused water coming up through carpet. I had to purchase a wet vacuum to dry out the carpet. I had to contact HomeAdvisor again and hired Dave the Plumber, LLC who had to redo the installation done previously. Dave the Plumber replaced all the piping and outside spigot because of a water leak the previous contractor left. Thank you Dave the Plumber for being a professional and a job well done."

"<p>I live at the top of a small mountain range.  Roads are paved, but there are more than a few switchbacks and steep inclines to get here.  I contacted no less than ten companies trying to find someone willing to come up here to pump my septic tank.  Most wouldn't even return my call or used some central call center that couldn't provide any customer service at all.  The few return calls I got indicated they wouldn't come to the top of the mountain.  It was a very frustrating process until I found Powell's.  They answer their own phones, provided an appointment within two days of my call, called when on their way, arrived on time, and pumped without any issue.  They were done in about an hour.  I HIGHLY recommend this company!  Good customer service is VERY hard to find these days.  Well Powell's has it!</p>"

"We are so happy that we got an estimate from Armored Basement Waterproofing. Prior estimates from other supposedly reputable companies wanted to sell us a sump pump drainage system. After his inspection, Gary found the leak to be from around our basement window. He recommended we repair the mortar of the window well, along with resealing the caulk around the window. A much easier fix that we could do, essentially talking us out of hiring him. His solution fixed the problem, unlike his competitors' desire to sell us something we did not need. It is refreshing to find someone as knowledgeable and with integrity as Gary. We will definitely call him in the future if the need arises."

"The pipe connected to the shower head in the master bath corroded which created a leak, and then broke off. As a result, we contacted 24/7 plumbing to see what would be needed to fix the issue. Their plumber came out to the house and stated that the pipe looked like it was galvanized, and if so could not be fixed. He then stated in order to find our for sure he needed to go through the wall directly behind the shower and also go through the wall on the side of the shower to make sure he could see the pipe. We then asked him who would be able to repair the wall and he stated that their plumbers are advised "to destroy what is necessary to fix the problem" and that they would not fix the walls after going through the dry wall. We then asked the plumber, but what if it's galvanized as you stated before? He sated that they would not be able to fix it again. We decided not to let him knock down 2 walls to access the pipe knowing that if it was galvanized he could not fix it. We would then be left with damaged walls to fix and still no use of the shower. We got a second opinion from Putnam Plumbing and they came out the next day. The plumber Patrick reached into the wall where the pipe was corroded with long pliers, took out the old thread that broke off and then reconnected the pipe which is galvanized to the shower head fixing the shower. He then advised us about the acidity of the water which would have caused the corrosion and options for how to take care of it in the future. The whole visit took 15 minutes. Lesson learned. Never using 24/7 ever again and always turning to Putman for any plumbing related issues."

"We had a well pump go bad and I called Tri-County Pumps. They were busy from the weekend overflow of work, but said they would try to get someone there as soon as they could. They had someone here the very next morning, and the pump was replaced by that afternoon. We have water again, and I am SO happy with the service I got from Kenny and Shawn. I would Highly recommend them 100%. Thanks Tri-County and Kenny/Shawn!"

"Dean Gross - was an excellent resource beyond the inspection. I purchased a new construction home from Ryan Homes and given their reputation of sub par construction, I  wanted to make sure that the home that Ryan was building for me meet all the local codes, and was free of defects, and was of the most sound construction. Dean was hired at the pre- drywall inspection. Thru his inspection it was obvious that his 35+ years in the construction and plumbing industry were being used. His initial report outlined in details steps needed to make the corrections that Ryan overlooked in their inspection. Overall his initial and final inspection allowed for my wife and I to purchase the home of our dreams, with confidence knowing that the home was build as sound as it could be. Dean Gross was the best investment we made, he saved us thousands in his findings during and prior to the close of construction.  I would highly recommend you call Dean Gross at 4 State Home Inspections. For not only the final inspection but for inspections during the building of your home. Dean was always prompt, and prepared with all the tools necessary including camera's and such to complete his inspection. Pictures were used to communicate defects to Ryan for correction."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Chewsville, MD

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
