"This company gave me a quote right after looking at my roof. Their quote was cheaper than the two other companies I got price quotes from. The other two companies were not able to provide me with a quote on the spot and instead sent it a day or up to three days later. This company got the roofing job done within the timeline they quoted and were very professional and knowledgeable about any questions I had. Additionally, I liked that the father and son who run the business and gave me the quote oversaw the work being done on workday. "

And boy was I right—but these guys gave me details and genuine advice on what needs done and when….and all without asking for a single penny. This will be the company I call when we are ready to move forward with roofing fixes. Thanks so much for your help guys!"

"I had an old fireplace that I needed to cancel out. CHUY knew exactly what we needed to do without any unwanted damage to the wall and ceiling. He helped me get the right people to repair the roof and capped everything shut. The tuckpointing around the house was done exceptionally well and professionally. I recommend anyone looking to get the job done right, you can't go wrong with Chuys Tuckpointing and his crew. On time and suoer clean. "

"I had a real crisis on my hands. A frozen, moldy roof at the end of January in the middle of a Chicago winter. This team turned my anxiety and tears into comfort immediately. Very fair pricing. They got on the job quickly because they understood my emergency. Sent a full team out to finish everything, including new facia, in just two business days. They do not sell you on anything. They stand behind the quality of their work and do so with human empathy for those who need their services. Top rating. "

"We hired Spencer and Mitch because of them being so transparent, flexible and for being great communicators. When they encountered an unexpected situation with the roof replacement, they were quick to inform us and keep us in the loop about what our best options were. They provided pictures of the work they did and the previous photos before they started the work. Because of the great job they did, we will continue to use them for other work that our home requires. The work they did was clean and professional. If you’re thinking of using their company for any project, you will not regret it. These are down to earth people that will help you as best as they can given their multiple years of experience. "

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Chicago, IL

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
