"Mid-State Basement Systems came highly recommended by a good friend from Buffalo, NY and they did not disappoint. From start to finish they were very professional yet personable. Larry & Phil in the initial stages of the basement inspection and a reasonable quote. Silvino and his team who done the actual work was incredible, done with absolute excellence. They were here when they said they would be and finished the job a day ahead of schedule. I am thoroughly pleased with this company, first class. I highly recommend them if you need work done on your basement.******"

"I had OBA install outdoor french drains and new downspouts a couple of years before they waterproofed my basement. They were the only company I could find who did it all. Basement waterproofing included removing old, putting in new: full inside perimeter drainage, enlarge sump pit, 2 sump pumps, I-beams and carbon fiber straps. Added in brand new: battery backup for sump and vapor barrier on most affected wall. When my basement got wet a year later after the work was done, they didn't hesitate to schedule someone to inspect. If was heavy condensation, barely a thin puddle compared to 2 inches of flowing water. They had to rework a 6 ft section and add cement around the I-beams, each on their own call outs. They didn't charge because I have a lifetime warranty, transferable to the next owner. I'll be working with them again soon for a professional level dehumidifier."

"Went very well. They came quickly and called when they left the office. Workers were very polite and kept at the job. They put a chemical in to break up the sludge. When that didn't work they pulled the pump and got the water flowing.

"Buckeye Waterproofing correctly diagnosed a problem we had with water coming under our garage floor into our utility room and family room during a serious storm.   They  cleaned our gutters. filled a crack in the exterior wall of the garage foundation, dug a hole in the garage floor to make sure there was no water there and refilled it. They were very efficient and treated us very respectfully. We have had no further problems.

"They explain in detail what was going on and how to keep the duct cleans. Also discovered other areas that need work but explain with can be done in the near future and how to fix the issues and not try to just sale a product. They gave a personal touch as if it was their home that need special attention. Thank you , The Jones Family"

"What started out as a estimate for only paint turned into a great experience. Originally Ron was simply going to paint the interior of a house after I had the drywall repairs done. After meeting Ron and he assuring me that he could repair the drywall at a reasonable cost, we proceeded. Ron repaired all drywall problems including all nail holes, removed a bunch of paint from a previous painter off of the trim etc etc. Ron all in all did a fantastic job. He went above and beyond and it turned out great The previous painting of this house was obviously done by an amateur as there were drips everywhere on the trim the floor etc. etc. Ron corrected the other painters mistakes. After seeing the completed interior Ron at my suggestion agreed to repair and paint the concrete porch. Again, another excellent job. Ron’s communication and punctuality made dealing with him an absolute breeze. He is a pro. He is very accommodating. In summary. I could not be more pleased with Ron’s work and his communication skills. He did exactly what he said he would at exactly the price quoted. I recommend Paramore Painting and I will be using them again."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Chillicothe, OH

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
