"Mid-Atlantic Roofing & Gutters provided outstanding service from start to finish. The sales engineer (John) provided a detailed overview of the work to be performed to replace my roof and gutters. While the installation was being performed there were weather delays, and I was kept updated on when the work was going to be resumed. The work team was friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the tasks at hand and always notified me when they arrived for work and when they were getting ready to depart. Mid-Atlantic is without a doubt one of the best contractors I have dealt with for repairs to my home. I would recommend them to anyone who requires quality, professionalism, and for expert service."

"This was a great experience. Arrived on time and began right away to strip off the old roof. The crew was extremely efficient. They applied the new roofing materials expertly. When finished they cleaned up the entire site and it looked like no one had been there. I cannot praise them enough for the fantastic job they did. I would hire this company again in an instant. The price was reasonable and the new roof looks fantastic."

"The service went well. HF Contracting, Inc. worked hard into the night to complete my roof installation. Mr. Flores was easy to work with. While my job was small in comparison to many others, it was treated with the same respect and quality as if it were a much bigger job."

"I have used the Tomas Brothers for a deck tear down and rebuild, installation of new windows and doors, and complete remodeling of our club room/basement including a small bathroom. They were responsive to my requests and creative in making a lovely cabinet to hide the sump pump. I will definitely call them when ready for the next project!"

"This company was wonderful to work with right from the beginning (initially contacted through Angie's list on 8/15/14, estimate performed on 9/03/14, and work completed on 9/10/14).   There were a few hiccups in initial scheduling, but part of that was our fault (we weren't paying attention to the voicemail message providing us with a different phone number to call because they were having phone issues in the office).  Every single person we dealt with was extremely friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable.  They made us feel at ease about the work we were getting done.  <br /> Horizon's quality of work is excellent!  I realize that only time will tell, but so far we've had a couple of very heavy rains since the work was performed an no leaking has occurred.   The aluminum coating they put on the roof looks fantastic - and there are no paint splatters anywhere on the house from the coating.   The guys did a marvelous job of cleaning up after themselves too - we couldn't even tell they were here.  Most contractors I've dealt with, including other roofers, leave behind a giant mess to clean up - and worse, they leave nails behind for people to step on or drive over with their tires (why do contractors do that?)...   anyway, you don't have to worry about any of that with Horizon.  <br /> We are relieved to have a roofing company that is so experienced with flat roofs in Baltimore City.  Horizon Roofing, Inc. will be our permanent go-to company if/when we have any roofing issues in the future.   It is so wonderfully refreshing to receive such top notch, quality service that you can trust!  <br /> <br />"

"Rebuild was excellent to deal with. With the recent wind storm, all of the roofers I contacted were scheduled out. Rebuild kept me informed, set a date and time for the repairs and showed up on time. The repairs were completed in a timely manner and look great. Thanks Rebuild."

"I called the Dynamic Roofing on a Saturday expecting to leave a message then be contacted the next week. Instead Eric returned my call the same day and set up an appointment for Monday. At that meeting he did a thorough examination of our almost 30 year old roof then explained what needed to be done and what our options were. We had been having trouble with the gutters backing up due to leaf build up as well as dents so we decided to get them replaced at the same time. Eric explained that the cost might be slightly more if they discovered any of the underlying plywood had to be replaced once they ripped up the old roof and quoted us a per sheet cost. Our installation day was about two weeks after our original appointment. The roof itself took one day then a crew returned the next day to do the gutters. Everything was hauled away and I saw no trace of any debris. It turned out we only needed one or two sheets of plywood replaced. The roof looks great."

"Everything went superbly. The overall cost was competitive, the contractor was cordial and professional, and no needless "upgrades" were promoted. Work was begun within days of contract signing and completed during a single, no-nonsense, 10-hour work day. Old shingles were removed, plywood sheathing and flashing were replaced as needed; new underlayment, drip edges, vent pipe flanges, architectural shingles, and ridge vents were then installed. Quality materials were used throughout, and the results look wonderful. Roof/yard cleanup was thorough. The contractor even fixed a few loose pieces of siding at no extra charge. The only negative was trivial: two attic insulation baffles were lost (probably unavoidably) during plywood replacement. No detraction from a great experience all around."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Churchton, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
